A motor vehicle is produced by joining two semifinished, preassembled bodies, a front structure and a rear structure. Each of these structures are preassembled with associated automobile components. That is, the front structure is assembled with engine, transmission (for a front engine mounted car), and related components, instrument panel, steering wheel, etc. The front structure is also semifinished in a standard color. The rear structure has preassembled decorative components, such as seats, carpeting, covering, etc. The rear structure has the final finish (in the desired final color). The windshield frame can be part of either the front or the rear structure. The roof is part of the rear structure. The front and the rear structure are joined together near the middle of the vehicle body. Existing assembly tools can be used to join the front and rear structures. After the front and rear structures are joined, the front structure is finished with the final color, matching that of the rear structure. Thereafter, additional components, which are finished with the final color, such as a mudguard, an engine hood or bonnet, doors, and other outer covering, namely a bumper, and a radiator grille, are connected to the joined structures.

Method of manufacturing a motor vehicle

An apparatus for assembling a plurality of components at once to a motor vehicle includes an intermediate jig device (1). The jig device (1) supports components (2) with keeping locations which correspond to fastening positions on a vehicle body to which the components (2) are to be fastened. The jig device (1) is carried so that the components (2) reach the fastening positions on the vehicle body. An electric nut driver (14) transmits transmitting fastening forces to the fastening positions through the jig device.

Apparatus and method for assembling motor vehicle

The method involves assembling the truck cab from two modules; a main cab (1), open to the front, and a front section (2). The main cab is prepared from metal pressings and is painted. The bulky fittings such as seats etc. are fitted through the open front. The front panel of the truck is prepared and painted prior to fitting the dashboard, driving controls, heating ducts, lights etc. It is fitted as a prepared module to the cab. The windscreen is fitted after the modules are assembled by adhesive into the prepared frame, with the bottom of the frame on the front module and the rest of the frame on the cab module.

In the method for mounting and the windscreen using glue, the windshield (2) as supplied is already joined to elements of the frame structure and with the car assembly, these elements are joined to the remaining frame structure. Only at selected regions of the edge surfaces(3), especially on the bottom edge, are these pre-joined elements. The joining with the rest of the frame is done by bolts, welding, riveting or gluing. The pre-joined elements include a transverse support(6) which also has attached modules for the windshield wipers and/or demister. The support is made by deep-drawing metal plate or by bending or hydroforming a hollow profile section out of aluminium.

Motor vehicle windscreen assembly

The invention relates to a method for assembling a cab for a truck, which exhibits a cab body (1) with a front part having an opening (8) for a windscreen, side parts (5) with side openings (8) for doors, a bottom part, a roof part (3) and a rear part (19) as well as an internal front part (25), trim panels and interior fittings. In a first stage, the various parts of the cab body are assembled without the rear part (19), whereby the cab body is totally open at the rear. In a second stage, the internal front unit (25), trim panels and at least larger interior fitting components are introduced from the rear through. the rear opening, and the units are installed after having been introduced. In a third stage, the rear opening is closed by the installation of the rear part (19), which is produced in the form of a loose, separate rear piece, by attaching this to the roof part (3), side parts and bottom part of the cab. The invention also relates to a cab produced in accordance with the method.

Method for assembling a vehicle cab for a truck and a vehicle cab produced according to the method

The invention concerns an assembly method for motor vehicles, particularly personal cars, in which method into a front part (1) of a vehicle, said front part being prefabricated to a desired degree of completion and having an open rear (3), are mounted a dashboard (5) and other interior components (6, 7, 8) of the vehicle body via its open rear by robotic means; and correspondingly, into a rear part (2) of said vehicle, said rear part being prefabricated to a desired degree of completion and having an open front (9), are mounted interior components (11, 12, 13) of the vehicle body via its open front by robotic means; and subsequently, the open rear (3) of the front part of the vehicle and the open front (9) of the rear part are aligned and joined.
