TL;DR: In this paper, a semi-persistent radio resource is associated with a corresponding automatic repeat request (ARQ) process identifier, which is used to match a retransmission of a data unit dynamically scheduled on the communications link with the requested data unit retransmissions.
Abstract: A radio communications link is established between radio stations, and a semi-persistent radio resource is allocated to support data transmission over the communications link. The semi-persistent radio resource is associated with a corresponding automatic repeat request (ARQ) process identifier. Non-limiting examples of a semi-persistent radio resource include a regularly scheduled transmission time interval, frame, subframe, or time slot during which to transmit a data unit over the radio interface. Retransmission is requested of a data unit transmitted using the semi-persistent radio resource. The ARQ process identifier associated with the semi-persistent resource is used to match a retransmission of a data unit dynamically scheduled on the communications link with the requested data unit retransmission. In a preferred example embodiment, the ARQ process identifier is a hybrid ARQ (HARQ) process, where a retransmitted data unit is combined with a previously-received version of the data unit.

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for a cellular system (100) in which traffic can be exchanged between first (110, 120) and second transceivers is described, where traffic is sent in data units, each of which is given an identifier, and which data units may be divided into segments.
Abstract: The invention discloses a method (700) for a cellular system (100), in which traffic can be exchanged between first (110, 120) and second (110, 120) transceivers. The traffic is sent in data units, each of which is given an identifier, and which data units may be divided into segments. A receiving transceiver (110, 120) may send status information in data frames or data units (200, 300) about properly received, partially received, or non-received data units to a sending transceiver, i.e. the transceiver from which the data was sent. In the case (705) of partially or non-received data units, the status information includes (710) information about whether the data unit or units were non-received or partially received, and in the case of one or more partially received data units, which (715) parts of those data units that were not received.

TL;DR: In this paper, methods and apparatus for processing error control messages such as RLC ARQ control messages, such as ARQ messages, are disclosed, and an exemplary method comprises signaling a medium access controller (MAC) that link resources are needed for transmitting data, receiving an indication from the MAC that the link resources for transmitting the data are scheduled, and generating an error control message after receiving said indication, based on a current error control status.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for processing error control messages, such as RLC ARQ control messages, are disclosed An exemplary method comprises signaling a medium access controller (MAC) that link resources are needed for transmitting data, receiving an indication from the MAC that link resources for transmitting the data are scheduled, and generating an error control message after receiving said indication, based on a current error control status The error control message is then forwarded to the MAC for transmission Because the generation of an error control message is delayed until resources for its transmission are scheduled, the queuing of stale control messages is avoided

TL;DR: This paper studies the performance of the heuristic localized gradient algorithm (HLGA) that was designed for uplink scheduling in 3G long term evolution (LTE) systems and suggests a procedure called dasiapruningpsila where resources are given to users who maximize a certain criteria and later on prune the extra resources and allocate them to other users.
Abstract: In this paper we study the performance of the heuristic localized gradient algorithm (HLGA) that was designed for uplink scheduling in 3G long term evolution (LTE) systems. The performance of the algorithm is examined when dynamic traffic models are assumed. With dynamic traffic, users will have different buffer occupancies. The amount of resources granted to a user need to be mapped to the size of those occupancies. We suggest for that, a procedure called dasiapruningpsila where resources are given to users who maximize a certain criteria and later on prune the extra resources and allocate them to other users. We also study the performance loss caused by more realistic assumptions on base station knowledge of the terminalpsilas buffer state. We first assume no delay in the reporting of the buffer occupancy but later evaluate the effect of buffer reporting delays and quantification of data used to report the status of a buffer.

TL;DR: In this article, the handover of at least one radio bearer for a served user terminal (160) to a target base station node (430, 900) is imminent in a packet-switched wireless communications system.
Abstract: Methods and devices are disclosed for forwarding data packets during handover in a packet-switched wireless communications system, such as a 3GPP Long-Term Evolution/System Architecture Evolution system. In an exemplary method, a source base station node (410, 900) determines (520) that handover of at least one radio bearer for a served user terminal (160) to a target base station node (430, 900) is imminent. The source base station node (410, 900) classifies (530) a plurality of data packets into two or more data flow classifications according to a transmission status for each data packet, a service requirement for each data packet, or both and selectively forwards (540) one or more of the data packets to the target base station node (430, 900) based on the data flow classification for each data packet. In some embodiments, the source base station node (410, 900) classifies (530) the data packets by inspecting (610) an Internet Protocol header for each packet to determine a corresponding service requirement. In some embodiments, the source base station node (410, 900) classifies (530) data packets by evaluating (650) a radio link control status to determine a transmission status for each data packet. In either case the source base station node (410, 900) selectively forwards (540) data packets corresponding to one or more of the classifications. For example, data packets associated with a reliable delivery service requirement may be forwarded while data packets associated with a maximum delay service requirement are not.

TL;DR: In this article, a method and arrangements for using an identifier of a predefined type, e.g., an RNTI identifying one configuration on an out-band control channel for activating the configuration identifiable by that identifier, are described.
Abstract: The present invention relates to method and arrangements for using an identifier of a predefined type, e.g. an RNTI identifying one configuration on an out-band control channel for activating the configuration identifiable by that identifier. The identifier is sent from the network to the UE, when a configuration corresponding to that identifier is to be activated. This implies that both the UE and the radio base station comprise a mapping between each configuration and the corresponding identity of each configuration.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a method for scheduling feedback reports for data blocks in received RX sub-frames, in TX sub-frame available for transmission, according to a predetermined spreading rule also known by the data sending party.
Abstract: Method and apparatus in a communication unit (400) employing a wireless TDD or half duplex FDD transmission arrangement when communicating with a data sending party, for scheduling feedback reports for data blocks in received RX sub-frames, in TX sub-frames available for transmission. An obtaining unit (402) in the communication unit receives allocation parameters (P) for the connection where the number of required feedback reports is greater than the number of allowed feedback reports. A scheduling unit (404) in the communication unit then schedules feedback reports (FR) in available TX sub-frames according to a predetermined spreading rule also known by the data sending party, dictating that the feedback reports are spread out or distributed evenly over the available TX sub-frames. In this way, the number of feedback reports in a TX sub-frame can be reduced.

TL;DR: In this paper, a plurality of feedback resources (304) assigned to different feedback information codes are allocated to the data receiving party for transmitting feedback reports, while still retaining single carrier properties.
Abstract: Method and apparatus for conveying feedback reports from a data receiving party (300) for data received from a data sending party (302) in a wireless connection. A plurality of feedback resources (304) assigned to different feedback information codes are allocated to the data receiving party for transmitting feedback reports. After checking whether the data was received correctly or not, the data receiving party selects a feedback resource (FR2) with a feedback information code that corresponds to one or more feedback reports on the received data. The data receiving party then sends feedback information on the selected feedback resource to the data sending party, thereby conveying the corresponding feedback information code. In this way, multiple feedback reports can be conveyed in a single feedback resource to the data sending party while still retaining single carrier properties.

TL;DR: In this paper, an improved procedure for synchronization of re-configuration of RRC procedures between the radio base station and the UE is presented, which is achieved by associating a new configuration to be used by a UE with an additional UE identity.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved procedure for synchronization of re-configuration of RRC procedures between the radio base station and the UE. This is achieved by associating a new configuration to be used by a UE with an additional UE identity. The UE is normally identified by a first UE identity, but is informed in a re-configuration message that the UE also has the additional UE identity. The UE is identified by the additional UE identity when the new configuration is to be activated. Hence, when the radio base station detects that the UE responds to requests, which included the additional UE identity, the radio base station can conclude that the UE has activated the new configuration.
