Journal ArticleDOI
Growth kinetics and competition between Methanosarcina and Methanosaeta in mesophilic anaerobic digestion.
TL;DR: It is shown that Methanosarcina dominance can be achieved with infrequent feedings, leading to more stable digestion, and decreasing digester feeding frequencies can increase Methanosaeta predominance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of Hydrogen on Reductive Dechlorination of Chlorinated Ethenes
TL;DR: In this paper, a methanogenic fluidized bed reactor (FBR) fed with lactate and tetrachloroethene (PCE) was operated for 14 months to study the effect of electron donor and PCE loading on chloroethenes dechlorination rates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adsorption and desorption of metals on ferrihydrite: reversibility of the reaction and sorption properties of the regenerated solid
TL;DR: The feasibility of recycling ferrihydrite in a metal adsorption process was investigated in this article, where the retention of metals in the solid does not interfere with sorption in subsequent cycles, within the range of concentrations investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of chlorophenol and chloromethoxybenzene biodegradation during anaerobic treatment
Journal ArticleDOI
The pitting corrosion of copper
TL;DR: In this article, simple experiments show that the presence of chloride ion actually tends to decrease the likelihood that pitting will occur, while sulfate has consistently demonstrated a propensity to initiate and propagate copper pitting.
