Advanced LIGO Two-Stage Twelve-Axis Vibration Isolation and Positioning Platform. Part 1: Design and Production Overview

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the final design of the vibration isolation and positioning platform used in Advanced LIGO to support the interferometers core optics, and describe how the platform has been engineered not only to meet the isolation requirements, but also to permit the construction, testing, and commissioning process of the fifteen units needed for Advanced LigO observatories.

Active seismic isolation for enhanced LIGO detectors

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe the mechanical design for such a system, and discuss the issues of active control that confront this endeavor, including active active isolation of ground motion to reduce the root mean-squared ground displacement and the displacement noise in the gravitational wave band.
