A dual pumping element fluid system for an engine or other system which reduces the driving power consumption by unloading one pumping element through the use of recirculation when a fluid pressure target value is achieved. A cross-over port fluid system prevents cavitation of the unloaded pump. A pressure-activated flow control valve mechanism is utilized to open and close the passageways from the secondary pump. The fluid system works in conjunction with an engine balance shaft system to control gear rattle at low speeds without adding undue gear loads at high speeds.

Energy efficient fluid pump

A housing encloses a supply of oil and has opposite end portions supporting axially aligned input and output shafts. Interfitting annular clutch plates and discs provide for connecting the input shaft to the output shaft, and interfitting annular brake plates and discs provide for braking the output shaft to the housing in response to axial movement of a non-rotating oil actuated piston supported within the housing concentrically with the output shaft. Oil recirculating passages are provided within the housing for cooling and lubricating the plates and discs, and a positive displacement high pressure annular pump forms an extension of the housing around the inlet shaft. The pump has inner and outer thin flat rotors and pressurizes a portion of the oil within the housing sufficiently to actuate the piston through the control of a solenoid actuated valve unit mounted on the housing.

The fluid displacement pump includes an outer gear having internal teeth disposed about an inner surface thereof, an annular element constituting the rotor of an electric motor, this element having an internal diameter substantially equivalent to an external diameter of the outer gear, the annular motor rotor affixed to the outer gear, an inner gear having external teeth disposed about an outer surface thereof for meshing with the internal teeth of the outer gear, the inner gear having fewer teeth than the outer gear, the internal teeth of the outer gear and the external teeth of the inner gear defining a plurality of expansion and pumping chambers when the outer gear is rotatably driven by the electric motor rotor, the bearing surface operable to support the outer gear during rotation thereof, a motor stator element electromagnetically engaging the annular motor rotor element for rotationally driving the outer gear, the motor stator having a soft ferromagnetic core and coil winding assembly and a non-magnetic housing disposed between the motor stator coil windings and the annular magnet, the outer diameter of the annular motor rotor element and the inner diameter of the non-magnetic housing constituting a journal and bearing system which is lubricated by the pumped fluid and is effective to maintain a fixed electromagnetic circuit gap between the inner diameter of the motor stator and the outer diameter of the annular motor rotor element during the operation of the pump.

Fluid displacement pump

The present invention relates to methods for making a nucleic acid molecule and methods for ligating oligonucleotides. The method includes ligating a first at least partially double-stranded oligonucleotide that has a first and second single-stranded overhang to a second at least partially double-stranded oligonucleotide that has a recognition site for a type IIS restriction enzyme, a modification allowing the oligonucleotide to be coupled to a surface, and a single-stranded overhang. The ligation product can be cleaved with a type IIS restriction enzyme, thereby releasing an elongated fragment having two single-stranded overhangs. These steps can be repeated by using the elongated fragment in a subsequent ligation to another at least partially double-stranded oligonucleotide that has a type IIS restriction enzyme recognition site.

De novo enzymatic production of nucleic acid molecules

A hydraulic machine of the gerotor type. The machine uses two gerotors which are preferably coplanar, and positioned nearly concentric to each other. This dual arrangement approximately doubles the displacement of hydraulic fluid per revolution, compared with a single gerotor, and thus doubles power transfer. Yet the housing containing the gerotors need only be large enough to contain the larger gerotor.

Apparatus responsive to fluid pressures and capable of providing fluid under pressure to provide a unit which may selectively be used as a fluid motor or a fluid driven motor pump unit depending upon fluid directing and control structures and with minimal modifications to achieve the various desired functions. The unit consists of a pair of radially arranged units which units are known in the art as gerotors and which therefore includes a shaft for mounting or driving a first gear rotor of a first size, a rotor ring which is provided for both orbital and rotational movement with respect to the first gear rotor and with respect to a stationary ring gear surrounding the rotor ring. Valving plates including stationary and moving plates are provided to control fluid flow either between chambers formed by the various gear members and rotor ring for parallel flow when the unit is operating as a motor or individual chamber flow when the unit is operated as a motor pump. The rotation and rotation and orbital movements of the various members provides expanding and contracting fluid chambers for fluid flow and thus operation of the apparatus in its selected mode. A uniqueness of the apparatus lies in the utilization of plate valving to eliminate or reduce normally faced sealing problems and to reduce size of the unit in comparison to gerotor units which are joined in a longitudinal fashion.
