Abstract Since a past decade, social media networking has become an essential part of everyone’s life affecting cultural, economic and social life of the people. According to internetlivestats.com, in March 2019 the Internet users reached 4 168 461 500, i.e., 50.08 % penetration of world population. According to Statista, in 2019 there are 2.22 billion social media networking users worldwide, i.e., 31 % of global social media networking penetration and it is expected that in 2021 this number will reach 3.02 billion. These social networking sites are attracting users from all walks of life and keeping these users’ data in the cloud. Today’s big challenge is related to an increase in volume, velocity, variety and veracity of data in social media networking, and this leads to creating several concerns, including privacy and security; on the other hand, it also proves as a tool to prevent and investigate cybercrime, if intelligently and smartly handled. The law enforcement agencies are putting their utmost efforts to prevent cybercrime by monitoring communications activities over the Internet. In this paper, the authors discuss recommendations and techniques for preventing cybercrime.

Today’s world is unimaginable without online social networks. Nowadays, millions of people connect with their friends and families by sharing their personal information with the help of different forms of social media. Sometimes, individuals face different types of issues while maintaining the multimedia contents like, audios, videos, photos because it is difficult to maintain the security and privacy of these multimedia contents uploaded on a daily basis. In fact, sometimes personal or sensitive information could get viral if that leaks out even unintentionally. Any leaked out content can be shared and made a topic of popular talk all over the world within few seconds with the help of the social networking sites. Cyber Security Concerns in Social Networking Service

Social engineering is a modern form of fraud that is widely implicated in contributing to information security breaches. This study situates social engineering in past criminological work on fraud and analyzes qualitative interviews with social engineers to elucidate the emotional experiences of perpetrating such frauds. The results of this analysis indicate that social engineering interactions are characterized by an emotional experience of situational tension and the subsequent resolution of that tension. The analysis then turns to factors that modulate the quality and intensity of the emotional experience of social engineering perpetration. These factors include the social distance between the social engineer and the mark, the social engineer’s framing the mark, and both perceived and actual efficacy in utilizing skills involved in management of self and situation. This study suggests that the emotional experience of social engineering parallels that of other frauds and is revelatory of the motivations behind the experiences.

Enacting social engineering: the emotional experience of information security deception

One of the most popular new technologies today is the Internet of Energy (IoE), which utilizes the Internet for collecting, organizing, optimizing and managing network energy information from various edge devices. In this way, a distributed smart energy infrastructure is developed. As IoE is essentially linked with the Internet, the cyber security concerns for this environment are also significant. Like any other technology connected with the Internet, IoE also is vulnerable to various kinds of attacks and threats. In this paper, we investigate the security issues in Internet of Energy. We study various security techniques proposed or developed for this environment during the recent years and discuss what to expect in the future.

Future Security Issues in Internet of Energy

Now-a-days, social engineering is considered to be one of the most overwhelming threats in the field of cyber security. Social engineers, who deceive people by using their personal appeal through cunning communication, do not rely on finding the vulnerabilities to break into the cyberspace as traditional hackers. Instead, they make shifty communication with the victims that often enable them to gain confidential information like their credentials to compromise cyber security. Phishing attack has become one of the most commonly used social engineering methods in daily life. Since the attacker does not rely on technical vulnerabilities, social engineering, especially phishing attacks cannot be tackled using cyber security tools like firewalls, IDSs (Intrusion Detection Systems), etc. What is more, the increased popularity of the social media has further complicated the problem by availing abundance of information that can be used against the victims. The objective of this paper is to propose a new framework that characterizes the behavior of the phishing attack, and a comprehensive model for describing awareness, measurement and defense of phishing based attacks. To be specific, we propose a hybrid multi-layer model using Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques for defending against phishing attacks. The model enables a new prospect in detection of a potential attacker trying to manipulate the victim for revealing confidential information.
