Analysis of vortex‐induced and stall‐induced vibrations at standstill conditions using a free wake aerodynamic code

TL;DR: In this article, a vortex-type model was proposed for the modeling of the stalled flow past a 2D airfoil, and the model predictions were successfully validated with averaged 2D measurements on a DU-96-W-180 airframe at high angles of attack.
Journal ArticleDOI

A consistent vortex model for the aerodynamic analysis of vertical axis wind turbines

TL;DR: In this paper, a consistent two dimensional vortex type aerodynamic model for VAWTs is presented alongside with its validation against measured data, which accounts for the effects of curvature of the relative to the blade inflow while blade vortex interactions are modelled by locally correcting the position of the wake vortices when they impinge on the blade.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of cut volute profile on squirrel cage fan performance and flow field

TL;DR: In this article, the original volute profile of a squirrel cage fan was cut to control and reshape this flow pattern, which is a non-axisymmetric flow pattern.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tonal noise reduction by unevenly spaced blades in a forward-curved-blades centrifugal fan

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of non-uniform blades on the noise spectrum characteristics of the fan was theoretically predicted by calculating the interference functions at each discrete frequency, and computational fluid dynamics and computational aeroacoustics analyses were performed to investigate the acoustic performance of each uneven blade spacing scheme.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multi-objective optimization of dual-arc blades in a squirrel-cage fan using modified non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm:

TL;DR: A dual-arc profile parameterized by four geometric variables was designed to replace the original single-arcprofile of a squirrel-cage fan used in a range hood, in order to improve the efficiency of the entire machine and the fan pressure and the experimental results show an unexpected slightly improvement in fan efficiency.
