Journal ArticleDOI
Research progress on strut-equipped supersonic combustors for scramjet application
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a review of the research progress made on supersonic combustors equipped with struts in recent decades, including fuel injection and mixing enhancement, thermal protection, strut resistance characteristics, combustion stabilization mechanisms, and flame propagation processes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Investigations on flame liftoff characteristics in liquid-kerosene fueled supersonic combustor equipped with thin strut
TL;DR: In this article, a thin strut was equipped in the center of the combustor acting as the flame holder, and the function of fuel injection was also achieved by the thin strut.
Journal ArticleDOI
Investigation of flame establishment and stabilization mechanism in a kerosene fueled supersonic combustor equipped with a thin strut
TL;DR: In this article, a thin strut acted as the flame holder equipped in the center of a combustor, and the flame establishment and propagation processes in a supersonic combustor fueled by liquid kerosene at Mach 6 condition were observed by high speed photography.
Journal ArticleDOI
Numerical and experimental investigation of improving combustion performance of variable geometry dual-mode combustor
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the mechanism of combustion performance loss for the variable geometry dual-mode combustor and found that for a given fuel equivalence ratio, the wall static pressure, total pressure recovery coefficient, combustion efficiency and thrust increased with the decreasing of divergent ratio.
Journal ArticleDOI
Local and global flame characteristics in a liquid kerosene fueled supersonic combustor equipped with a thin strut
TL;DR: In this article, a liquid kerosene fueled supersonic combustor based on the strut flame holder was investigated, where a thin strut with the thickness of 6 mm is equipped in the center of the main flow, and there are two rows of oxygen injectors at the tailing edge of it to enhance the combustion.
