Enhancing the Performance of Perceptual Audio Coders by Using Temporal Noise Shaping (TNS)
Jürgen Herre,James D. Johnston +1 more
TL;DR: A novel approach to the pre-echo problem is presented allowing to shape the quantization noise in time, shown to work efficiently also in the case of "pitched" signals (e.g. speech) where traditional block switching schemes do not offer an efficient solution.

MPEG Surround – the ISO/MPEG Standard for Efficient and Compatible Multi-Channel Audio Coding
Jürgen Herre,Kristofer Kjörling,Jeroen Breebaart,Christof Faller,Sascha Disch,Heiko Purnhagen,Jeroen Koppens,Johannes Hilpert,Jonas Röden,Werner Oomen,Karsten Linzmeier,Kok Seng Chong +11 more
TL;DR: The results of the standardization process are summarized by describing the underlying ideas and providing an overview of the MPEG Surround technology.

webMUSHRA — A Comprehensive Framework for Web-based Listening Tests
Michael Schoeffler,Sarah Bartoschek,Fabian-Robert Stöter,Marlene Roess,Susanne Westphal,Bernd Edler,Jürgen Herre +6 more
TL;DR: By utilizing webMUSHRA, experimenters can configure web-based MUSHRA listening tests without the need of web programming expertise and is highly customizable and has been used in many auditory studies for different purposes.

Method for coding an audio signal
Jürgen Herre,Gbur Uwe,Andreas Ehret,Martin Dietz,Bodo Teichmann,Oliver Kunz,Karlheinz Brandenburg,Gerhaeuser Heinz Dr +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a method for coding or de-coding an audio signal combining the advantages of TNS processing and noise substitution was proposed, where a time discrete audio signal is initially transformed in a frequency range in order to obtain spectral value of the temporal audio signal.
