This study aims to describe the mistakes of students based on the Newman stage in solving the story problems of the One Variable Linear Equation material. This type of research is qualitative descriptive with a descriptive approach. The subjects of this study were 34 students of class VII-F SMP Negeri 17 Malang, consisting of 20 boys and 14 girls for the 2019/2020 school year. Research subjects 30 subjects from class VII-F students were present for analysis. Retrieval of data using written tests to obtain data about students 'mistakes in solving story questions based on Newman stages and interviews to complete the results and strengthen data about students' mistakes. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Checking the validity of the data used the source triangulation technique in the form of interviews with 3 students of class VII-F who were selected based on high, medium, and low abilities. Based on the results of the study, it appears that the mistakes made by students based on the Newman procedure, at the reading stage there were no research subjects who made mistakes. At the understanding stage there were 23 subjects who made mistakes, the transformation stage there were 30 subjects who made mistakes, the process skills stage there were 17 subjects who made mistakes and the final answer writing stage there were 29 subjects who made mistakes. The results showed that all students made four types of errors. The causative factor is that there are certain sentences in the questions that cannot be interpreted correctly, forgetting the formulas that must be used, rushing when writing formulas, not mastering the material of One Variable Linear Equations, not being thorough and in a hurry to do the problems.

Analysis of Student Errors In Solving Story Problems Based on Newman's Stage In Class VII

Problems that happened in Junior High School of 33 Semarang are lack of students’s understanding prosedural and conceptual in algebra and still make errors in solving algebra problem.This study view to analyzed Junior High School of 33 Semarang students’ errors and misconceptions in algebra. The study used qualitative method research design. An algebra test contained questions from three main areas of algebra: variables, algebraic expressions, and systems of linear equations two variables. The results indicated a number of error categories under each area. Some errors emanated from misconceptions. Errors type was observed under variables are letters as labels, lack of understanding of variables as specified unknown, lack of understanding of variables as generalized numbers, conjoining addition and multiplication, misinterpreting unitary concept, and forming incorect equations. Errors type was observed under algebraic expressions are miscancellasi, conjoining addition and multiplication, lack of understanding of distributive property, dan lack of understanding of operations in fraction.

Analisis Kesalahan Dan Miskonsepsi Siswa Kelas Viiipada Materi Aljabar

This study aims to analyze student mathematical literacy ability from the perspective of students' Mathematical Ability. This research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The research subjects were three students of XI IPA 1 MAN 1 Padang with different mathematical abilities: low, medium, and high. Data were collected through documentation, tests, and interviews. The results of the analysis show that students with high abilities can solve routine problems, interpret problems and solve them with formulas, carry out procedures well, can deal with complex situations, use their reasoning in solving problems, can work effectively and interpret different representations and then relate them to the real world. Students with moderate abilities can solve routine problems, interpret problems and solve them with formulas, and carry out procedures properly. Meanwhile, students with low abilities are only able to solve routine questions. Based on these results, it is necessary to look for strategies in the mathematics learning process, which enable the improvement of students' mathematical literacy skills.

Mathematical Literacy: A Case Study on Padang Students' Mathematical Ability

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan berargumentasi dalam pembelajaran fisika  peserta didik SMA Negeri 8 Makassar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas XI MIPA  SMA Negeri 8  Makassar semester genap tahun ajaran 2020/2021. Subyek penelitian sebanyak 36 orang yang berasal dari kelas XI MIPA 4, XI MIPA 5 dan XI MIPA 6. Data kemampuan berargumentasi peserta didik diperoleh dari hasil tes kemampuan berargumentasi yang mengukur beberapa aspek yakni, klaim, data, pembenaran dan dukungan. Hasil dari penelitian ini  menunjukkan kemampuan berargumentasi peserta didik untuk setiap aspek berada pada kategori cukup untuk aspek klaim, kategori kurang untuk  aspek data dan  aspek pembenaran, serta kategori sangat kurang untuk aspek dukungan, dengan secara keseluruhan kemampuan berargumentasi peserta didik SMA Negeri 8 Makassar berada pada kategori kurang. Hal ini disebabkan karena tidak maksimalnya jawaban yang diberikan oleh peserta didik yang disebabkan beberapa faktor diantaranya kurangnya pemahaman konsep fisika, bentuk soal yang tidak familiar dan terdapat beberapa nomor soal yang tidak dijawab oleh peserta didik.

Analisis kemampuan berargumentasi dalam pembelajaran fisika peserta didik sma negeri 8 makassar

This research was aimed to improve students’ argumentation skill through the implementation of problem based learning in X MIA 1 SMA Batik 2 Surakarta Academic Year 2014/2015. This research is a classroom action research which consisted of three cycles. Each cycle contained planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The subjects of this research were students in X MIA 1 of SMA  Batik 2 Surakarta Academic Year 2014/2015. The data was collected using test, interview, and documentation. The data validation used triangulation technic. The data were analyzed descriptive was based on three components, they are: data reduction, data presentation and drawing the conclusion or verification. The research procedure is using spiral method. The results showed that argumentation skill of students increase from pre cycle, cycle I, cycle II, and cycle III. The average of students’ argumentation skill increase from 28,96% to 50,06%. Claim aspect increase from 61,62% to 82,49%; evidence aspect increase from 15,66% to 37,37%; and reasoning aspect increase from 9,60% to 30,30%. Based on the result of the research, the conclusion is there are improvement of argumentation skill through implementation of problem based learning in X MIA 1 SMA Batik 2 Surakarta. Improvement of Argumentation Skill through Implementation of Problem Based Learning in X MIA 1 SMA Batik 2 Surakarta in the Academic Year 2014/2015

This research aimed to describe the thinking process of students in solving the system of linear equations based on Polya stages. This study was a descriptive qualitative research involving six Year 10 students who are selected based on the teacher's advice and the initial mathematical ability categories, namely: (1) Students with low initial mathematics ability, (2) Students with moderate initial mathematics ability, and ( 3) students with high initial mathematics ability categories. The results indicated that students with low initial mathematical ability category were only able to solve the two-variable linear equation system problems. Students in the medium category of initial mathematics ability and students in the category of high initial mathematics ability were able to solve the problem in the form of a system of linear equations of two variables and a system of three-variable linear equations. However, students found it challenging to solve problems with complicated or unusual words or languages.

Profil Berpikir Siswa dalam Menyelesaikan Soal Sistem Persamaan Linear

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pola argumentasi siswa pada tingkat kemampuan yang berbeda yaitu tinggi, sedang dan rendah. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan melibatkan 3 siswa X Jurusan Tata Boga 1 yang terdiri dari 2 perempuan dan 1 laki-laki. Pada penelitian ini pengumpulan data menggunakan 2 soal tes (soal benar salah dan soal cerita) dan dibantu dengan wawancara untuk memastikan jawaban siswa. Alat analisis yang digunakan untuk menganalisis pola argumentasi siswa adalah gabungan antara pola argumentasi Toulmin dan pola argumentasi Mc. Neill & Krajcik. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa siswa dengan tingkat kemampuan tinggi memilik pola argumentasi claim, evidence, reasoning dan rebuttal untuk soal 1, sedangkan pada soal 2 siswa memiliki pola data, claim, evidence dan reasoning. Pada siswa dengan tingkat kemampuan sedang, siswa memiliki pola argumentasi claim, evidence dan reasoning untuk soal 1, sedangkan pada soal 2 siswa memiliki argumentasi data, claim, evidence dan reasoning. Pada siswa dengan tingkat kemampuan rendah, siswa memiliki pola argumentasi claim, evidence, reasoning untuk soal 1, sedangkan untuk soal 2 siswa memiliki pola argumentasi data, claim, evidence dan reasoning.
