The nanostructure, wear and corrosion performance of arc-evaporated CrBxNy nanocomposite coatings

TL;DR: In this paper, the composition, nanostructure, tribological and corrosion behaviour of reactive arc evaporated CrB x N y coatings have been studied and compared to CrN. The coating composition and nanostructures were determined using time-of-flight elastic recoil detection analysis (TOF-ERDA), x-ray diffraction (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).
Journal ArticleDOI

Mechanical and tribological properties of CrTiCu(B,N) glassy-metal coatings deposited by reactive magnetron sputtering

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used hot-filament enhanced reactive magnetron sputtering to create thin film tribological coatings to improve the wear resistance of low strength steels and the light alloys.
Journal ArticleDOI

Small grain size zirconium-based coatings deposited by magnetron sputtering at low temperatures

TL;DR: Hard, partly amorphous, ZrTiB(N) coatings were deposited by Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) onto (111) silicon wafers at low substrate temperatures of 85 and 110°C using Closed Field Unbalanced Magnetron Sputtering as mentioned in this paper.
