Applications of nonlinear fiber optics

A simple design of optically pumped J−K flip-flop using a two GaAs–AlGaAs based optical microring resonator (OMRR) is introduced. The nonlinear property of a GaAs–AlGaAs based ring resonator is explored to use it as an optical switch. A high-intensity optical pump pulse is used for the switching operation of the OMRR. A theoretical model of the proposed J–K flip-flop circuit is developed by applying the delay line signal process approach. Z-domain model of the circuit is explored to analyze its performance. Various performance parameters—such as contrast ratio (CR), extinction ratio (ER), on-off ratio (Ton-off), and amplitude modulation (AM)—are determined from the simulation results obtained on MATLAB. The optimum values of CR, ER, Ton-off, and AM are calculated for the proposed model, which confirms the feasibility of the flip-flop.

AbstractAs technology progressed, photonic wave processing and computation came which were low cost and robust. They provided a better alternative to design and combine with traditional optical network. These initial systems and architecture provided an interesting dimension in photonic wave processing and photonic computing. Here, in this work, we will be inspecting four basic logic gates, namely AND, XOR, OR, NOT based on semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) devices at 100 Gb/s. Later, the assessment will be done by confirming the truth table. There are various contents which we use in designing like data signaling probes, couplers, various kinds photonic wave amplifier (e.g., SOA) and optical bandpass filter. As we advance, we can build numerous functioning schemes like a flip-flop, shift registers, and sequential circuits in the photonics aspect. Implementation of All-Optical Logic Gates AND, OR, NOT, XOR Using SOA at 100 Gb/s

Optical communication uses light to transmit information rather than electrical signals. Here, optical strands are used as a communication medium. The communication building blocks utilized here are modulator/demodulator, transmitter/receiver, transparent channel, and light signal. Due to various advantages such as resistance to electromagnetic interference, transparency, low power consumption, and robustness, optical communications tend to influence the future communication technology. The basic functions included in this communication are indicated by using optical random-access memories, logic gates, and flip-flop memories. This research study discusses about various building blocks and simulates all the sequential circuits used in building a communication system

Performance Evaluation of Optical D Flip Flop Built Sequential Circuits

For photonic Digital processing All Optical Flip Flops are the major elements. External clock is the most important feature in Digital Signal Processing. All Optical JK Flip Flop is proposed and demonstrated in this paper. Based on the non linearity of Semiconductor Optical Amplifier (SOA) the principle of All Optical JK Flip Flop is designed. In this model we show a strategy of Optical pulse propagation in SOA based on XGM and FWM effects. The Logic is used to implement all Optical Flip-Flop, and its function is verified with the help of truth table. The whole setup is implemented with the help of Optisystem software which is one of the powerful software for analyzing the components. The full design is simple, compact, economical, thermally stable and integration capable.
