Radiative kaon capture at rest in hydrogen
D. A. Whitehouse,E.C. Booth,William Fickinger,K. P. Gall,M. D. Hasinoff,N. P. Hessey,Dezso Horvath,J. Lowe,E. K. McIntyre,David F. Measday,J. P. Miller,A. J. Noble,B. L. Roberts,D. K. Robinson,M. Sakitt,M. Salomon +15 more
TL;DR: The photon spectrum from ${K}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$ stopping in liquid hydrogen has been measured with a high-resolution (1.5% FWHM at 300 MeV) NaI(Tl) detector and results are not in good agreement with published predictions or with previous \ensure Math{\Lambda}\ensureMath{\gamma} measurements.
Journal ArticleDOI
Precision measurements of the K
K. P. Gall,E.J. Austin,J. P. Miller,F. O'Brien,B. L. Roberts,D. R. Tieger,G. W. Dodson,G. W. Dodson,M. Eckhause,J. F. Ginkel,P. P. Guss,D. W. Hertzog,D. Joyce,J. R. Kane,C. J. Kenney,J. B. Kraiman,W. C. Phillips,W. F. Vulcan,Robert E. Welsh,R. J. Whyley,R. G. Winter,R. J. Powers,R. B. Sutton,A. R. Kunselman +23 more
TL;DR: In this article, exotic-atom x-ray transitions in Pb and W have been used to measure the masses of the K and S masses, and the results are shown to be consistent with previous measurements.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cross sections for the reaction 4He( gamma, gamma ) 4He in the Delta (1232)-resonance region.
E.J. Austin,E.C. Booth,Delli Carpini D,K. P. Gall,E. K. McIntyre,J. P. Miller,D. Warner,D. A. Whitehouse,G. W. Dodson +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured the differential cross sections for coherent Compton photon scattering in the reaction /sup 4/He(..gamma..,..Gamma..) /sup4/He at laboratory angles of 24/sup 0//, 30/Sup 0/, 45/SUP 0/, and 60/sup0/ with an average laboratory photon energy of 320 MeV.
Journal ArticleDOI
Strong interaction effects in high-Z K- atoms
C. J. Batty,M. Eckhause,K. P. Gall,P. P. Guss,D. W. Hertzog,J. R. Kane,A. R. Kunselman,J. P. Miller,F. O'Brien,W. C. Phillips,R. J. Powers,B. L. Roberts,R. B. Sutton,W. F. Vulcan,Robert E. Welsh,R. J. Whyley,R. G. Winter +16 more
TL;DR: This is the first observation of two measurably broadened and shifted kaonic transitions in a single target and thus permitted the width of the upper state to be determined directly, rather than being inferred from yield data.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of a NaI(Tl) detector with superior photon energy resolution for use above 100 MeV
TL;DR: In this article, the authors designed and tested a new high resolution NaI(Tl) total absorption scintillation counter, which is a cylinder composed of a 26.7 cm diameter by 55.9 cm long NaI core with a concentric 10.8 cm thick NaI annulus.
