Journal ArticleDOI

Fat metabolism in higher plants: XLIV. Fatty acid synthesis by a soluble fatty acid synthetase from Solanum tuberosum

TL;DR: A highly stable potato tuber preparation containing the fatty acid synthetase enzymes has been obtained and the conditions for the de novo synthesis of fatty acids have been examined, finding the system formed C 8 to C 16 saturated fatty acids under standard conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fat metabolism in higher plants. XLI. Properties of potato acetyl coenzyme A synthetase.

TL;DR: The major form of the potato acetyl CoA synthetases followed Iso Bi Uni Uni Uni Bi Ping Pong mechanism based on initial velocity and product inhibition studies, similar to that of the yeast enzyme.
