Thermochromic reactions are of particular interest not only from the practical (1) and pedagogic (2) points of view, but also from a more fundamental standpoint (3). A number of studies drawn from a wide variety of domains have been devoted to their behavior (4–6).

Wet Oxidation Treatment of Waste Water from SOx Removal Facilities.

The wet oxidation of sodium dithionate was carried out at an elevated temperature between 100 and 300 °C. The decomposition of the dithionate solution proceeded rapidly at 150–170 °C and (approximately) a complete decomposition occurred at temperatures greater than 200 °C within 30 min. The removed percentage of the dithionate under a large excess of air was independent of the concentration. The addition of iron(II) sulfate and hydrogen peroxide accelerated the decomposition. Wet oxidation was effective for the disposal of wastewater containing dithionates.
