Deciding on the Number of Classes in Latent Class Analysis and Growth Mixture Modeling: A Monte Carlo Simulation Study

TL;DR: Whereas the Bayesian Information Criterion performed the best of the ICs, the bootstrap likelihood ratio test proved to be a very consistent indicator of classes across all of the models considered.
Journal ArticleDOI

Subtypes, severity, and structural stability of peer victimization: what does latent class analysis say?

TL;DR: The most victimized class always represented the smallest proportion of the sample, decreasing from 20% in sixth grade to 6% by the end of eighth grade, illustrating the validity of the LCA approach.

Stability and Instability of Peer Victimization during Middle School: Using Latent Transition Analysis with Covariates, Distal Outcomes, and Modeling Extensions

TL;DR: Juvonen et al. as mentioned in this paper examined the peer victimization experiences of approximately 1300 urban, public school students across the 3 middle school years and found that when students transitioned between victimization classes, they were most likely to transition from a more victimized group into one of the less victimized groups.
