International Society of Human and Animal Mycology (ISHAM)-ITS reference DNA barcoding database--the quality controlled standard tool for routine identification of human and animal pathogenic fungi.

Laszlo Irinyi, +57 more
- 01 May 2015 -
TL;DR: An international consortium of medical mycology laboratories was formed aiming to establish a quality controlled ITS database, containing 2800 ITS sequences representing 421 fungal species, providing the medical community with a freely accessible tool to rapidly and reliably identify most agents of mycoses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genetic diversity of medically important and emerging Candida species causing invasive infection

TL;DR: Polymorphism analysis of the ITS rDNA region demonstrated its utility as a genetic marker for species identification and phylogenetic relationships as well as for drawing inferences concerning the natural history of hematogenous infections caused by medically important and emerging Candida species.
Journal ArticleDOI

Candidemia and death by Candida orthopsilosis and Candida metapsilosis in neonates and children.

TL;DR: The authors suggest that Candidemia and Death by Candida orthopsilosis and Candida metapsilosis in Neonates and Children, Pediatrics and Neonatology (2013), should be considered as a “window of opportunity” for further study.
