A mounting apparatus is provided for a data storage device defining a mounting hole. The mounting apparatus includes a bracket for accommodating the data storage device and a locking latch. The bracket includes a side plate forming a cantilever thereon. A receiving portion is formed at a free end of the cantilever. The locking latch is pivotally attached to the side plate. The locking latch has an initial position parallel to the side plate. A projecting portion extends from the locking member, and is received by the receiving portion of the cantilever. A securing member is formed on the locking latch. When the locking latch is pivoted away from the side plate, the cantilever is distorted to store a potential elastic energy for urging the locking latch to move back to the initial position, thereby the securing member engaging into the mounting hole of the data storage device.

The present invention provides a floating-plate connector assembly which includes a mounting plate on which are mounted a combined power and signal pin connector, an alternating current connector and a pair of guide pins. The mounting plate is in turn mounted on the rear panel of a power supply module so that the connector plate may move within predetermined limits in two axes. In addition, the present invention provides an assembly for securing a faceplate to a chassis without the use of removable fasteners. The power supply system of the present invention also provides a brake lever assembly which facilitates the securing of a power supply system to a fixed location while providing the option of mobility.

The fan carrier assembly preferably includes a handle operable to engage a pair of latches such that when the handle is employed to remove the carrier and component from the computer system, a single motion both releases the latches from engagement as well as displaces the component from its engaged position.

A disk drive holder and interconnection system comprises a case, a drive frame, a release mechanism and electrical coupling device. The case holds a plurality of disk drives. Each disk drive is mounted in the case with a drive frame that has a flush release mechanism and a retaining mechanism. The drive frame has guides that are received by slots on the case as the disk drive and frame slide in and out of the case. The release mechanism is used to force the frame away from the case for removal. The system also includes a plurality of electrical connectors and a bus. A first connector provides external access to the bus. The remaining connectors are mounted to a backplane for mating with connectors on the drive frames, thereby coupling the connectors to disk drives automatically as the drive frame slides into the case. The holder also includes an air filter, a fan, a power supply and a distribution system mounted inside the case.

After the component is inserted in the chassis, the handle is pivoted towards the component which establishes a fulcrum for forcing the component into the chassis. To remove the component from the chassis, the handle is pivoted away from the component which establishes a fulcrum to assist in the removal.
