Journal ArticleDOI
Stereoselective blood-brain barrier transport of histidine in rats.
TL;DR: The transport characteristics of l- and d-histidine through the blood-brain barrier (BBB) were studied using cultured rat brain microvascular endothelial cells (BMEC) and suggested that l- histidine is actively uptaken by a carrier-mediated mechanism into the BMEC, with energy supplied by Na+.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of selenium on the glycolysis and gluconeogenesis system in rat liver
TL;DR: The data indicated that the hypoglycemic effect of selenium might be due to the acceleration of glucose metabolism and the inhibition of glucose synthesis in the liver, suggesting a decrease in a source of precursor supply for the gluconeogenesis.
