Journal ArticleDOI

Numerical simulation of air motion in the swirl chamber of a diesel engine. Effect of connecting port in air motion.

TL;DR: In this article, numerical simulation was carried out to clarify three-dimensional air motion in the swirl chamber of a diesel engine and the results obtained are as follows: the swirling flow becomes strong toward the end of the compression stroke, the flow normal to the swirling surface becomes comparatively weak.
Journal ArticleDOI

Method for Designing an Air Damper.

TL;DR: In this article, a method for designing an air damper composed of a piston and a cylinder is discussed, where the authors present a simple expression for calculation of the optimum piston length and clearance.

Local characteristics of heat transfer from a vibrating cylinder

TL;DR: In this article, a stable and efficient numerical scheme in the frequency domain is proposed and applied to the above mentioned problem, which reveals that the local characteristics of heat transfer from a vibrating cylinder are different between the low-frequency vibration and the high-frequency ones, although the convection fields, except in the vicinity of the cylinder surface, show similar features.
