Journal ArticleDOI
Knee pain during activities of daily living and its relationship with physical activity in patients with early and severe knee osteoarthritis.
Naoto Fukutani,Hirotaka Iijima,Hirotaka Iijima,Tomoki Aoyama,Yuko Yamamoto,Masakazu Hiraoka,Kazuyuki Miyanobu,Masashi Jinnouchi,Eishi Kaneda,Tadao Tsuboyama,Shuichi Matsuda +10 more
TL;DR: Knee pain while ascending stairs and while walking on a flat surface or bending to the floor or standing up was a probable limiting factor for physical activity in early and severe knee OA, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
Psychological health is associated with knee pain and physical function in patients with knee osteoarthritis: an exploratory cross-sectional study
Hirotaka Iijima,Hirotaka Iijima,Hirotaka Iijima,Tomoki Aoyama,Naoto Fukutani,Takuya Isho,Yuko Yamamoto,Masakazu Hiraoka,Kazuyuki Miyanobu,Masashi Jinnouchi,Eishi Kaneda,Hiroshi Kuroki,Shuichi Matsuda +12 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that depression may be associated with increased knee pain intensity during daily living in a non-task-specific manner and is associated with functional limitation in patients with knee OA, even after controlling for covariates, including bilateral knee pain and ambulatory physical activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Relationship Between Pedometer-Based Physical Activity and Physical Function in Patients With Osteoarthritis of the Knee: A Cross-Sectional Study.
Hirotaka Iijima,Naoto Fukutani,Takuya Isho,Yuko Yamamoto,Masakazu Hiraoka,Kazuyuki Miyanobu,Masashi Jinnouchi,Eishi Kaneda,Tomoki Aoyama,Hiroshi Kuroki,Shuichi Matsuda +10 more
TL;DR: Although increased ambulatory PA had a positive relationship with better physical function, walking <2500 steps/d may be a simple indicator for a decrease in physical function in patients with knee OA among standard PA categories.
Journal ArticleDOI
Changes in clinical symptoms and functional disability in patients with coexisting patellofemoral and tibiofemoral osteoarthritis: a 1-year prospective cohort study.
Hirotaka Iijima,Hirotaka Iijima,Naoto Fukutani,Takuya Isho,Yuko Yamamoto,Masakazu Hiraoka,Kazuyuki Miyanobu,Masashi Jinnouchi,Eishi Kaneda,Tomoki Aoyama,Hiroshi Kuroki,Shuichi Matsuda +11 more
TL;DR: The results of the exploratory analysis suggested that patients with coexisting PFOA might have heterogeneous clinical outcomes, and presence of mixed P FOA might be an indicator of severe clinical knee OA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of varus thrust with prevalent patellofemoral osteoarthritis: A cross-sectional study
Hirotaka Iijima,Hirotaka Iijima,Hirotaka Iijima,Naoto Fukutani,Yuko Yamamoto,Masakazu Hiraoka,Kazuyuki Miyanobu,Masashi Jinnouchi,Eishi Kaneda,Takuya Isho,Tomoki Aoyama,Hiroshi Kuroki,Shuichi Matsuda +12 more
TL;DR: Varus thrust was associated with PFOA in a compartment-nonspecific manner in patients with medial knee OA, indicating that varus thrust may represent a clinical disease feature of more advanced and multicompartmental disease.
