Journal ArticleDOI

Leaf acid phosphatase isozymes in the diagnosis of phosphorus status in field-grown wheat

TL;DR: The phosphatase zymograms identified an isozyme which appeared when plants were deficient in phosphorus and did not appear when they were adequately supplied, and was related to grain yield at both sites, in both seasons and whether freshly applied or residual phosphorus was the source of supply.
Journal ArticleDOI

Acid phosphatase activity of intact roots and phosphorus nutrition in plants. III. Its relation to phosphorus garnering by wheat and a comparison with leaf activity as a measure of phosphorus status

TL;DR: Eight wheat cultivars, selected on the basis of their root phosphatase activities to provide a range of phosphorus garnering abilities, experienced difficulty in taking up phosphorus from a nutrient solution containing 1 I*.M phosphorus, a level frequently found in the soil solution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in soil sulphur fractions with fertilizer additions and cropping treatments

KD McLachlan, +1 more
- 01 Jan 1975 -
TL;DR: In this article, continued application of fertilizer to a pasture soil over a 4-year period, increased the phosphate extractable, the bicarbonate extractable and the total sulphur contents.
Journal ArticleDOI

Acid Phosphatases Associated With Phosphorus Deficiency in Wheat: Partial Purification and Properties

TL;DR: Evidence is provided that there are empirical differences in substrate utilisation between these phosphatase isozymes associated with phosphorus deficient plants.
