The present invention provides a laminated polyester film which exhibits a good adhesion property to various adhesives, and can be suitably used in the applications in which a high total light transmittance is required, for example, as a member for protecting a polarizing plate of liquid crystal displays, in particularly, as a protective film disposed on a rear surface of a rear side polarizing plate. The laminated polyester film according to the present invention comprises a polyester film; a coating layer formed by applying a coating solution which comprises at least one resin selected from the group consisting of a polyester resin, an acrylic resin and a urethane resin, polyvinyl alcohol and an oxazoline compound, on one surface of the polyester film; and a coating layer formed on the other surface of the polyester film which has an absolute reflectance exhibiting one minimum value in a wavelength range of 300 to 800 nm wherein the minimum value is not more than 3.5%.

Laminated polyester film

A structure includes a layer which includes a first cured portion and a second cured portion which are formed from a same light curable material. The first cured portion is cured to a first amount, and the second cured portion is cured to a second amount. The first amount is sufficiently different than the second amount to result in a visible discontinuity on the surface of the structure. A method for forming a pattern in a radiation curable material includes providing between a radiation source and the radiation curable material, a pattern that can block a portion of the radiation from the radiation source. The material is cured with radiation from the radiation source to form a pattern in the radiation curable material.

Differentially-cured materials and process for forming same

In a directly-illuminated liquid crystal display (LCD), for example an LCD monitor or an LCD-TV, a number of light management layers lie between the light source and the LCD panel to provide bright, uniform illumination. The light management layers, including, for example, a diffuser, a reflective polarizer and a brightness enhancing layer, are contained in a light management unit that is formed from two subassemblies. The two subassemblies each contain a substrate and are attached together so as to leave a gap between the two subassemblies. The diffuser is located in one of the subassemblies, and the other light management layers may be in either of the subassemblies, or may be disposed in the gap between the subassemblies.

Composite diffuser plates and direct-lit liquid crystal displays using same

The present invention relates to a polyester film for display comprising: a polyester film substrate containing an ultraviolet light absorber; and a coating layer formed on at least one surface of said polyester film substrate, said polyester film having a haze of not more than 2.0% and a light transmittance at 380 nm of not more than 5.0%.

In a liquid crystal display (LCD), for example an LCD monitor or an LCD-TV, a number of light management films (120), including a diffuser layer (122), lie between the light source (112) and the LCD panel (102) to provide bright, uniform illumination. In some embodiments, the diffuser layer is attached to the lower side of the LCD panel. In other embodiments, it is formed as a layer on a substrate of a material such as glass, or is attached to the front surface of the light source. Some, or all, of the light management layers may be attached together as a laminated stack of films. In some embodiments, the diffuser layer is formed with a recessed region on one side and another optical film positioned within the recessed region.

Liquid crystal displays with laminated diffuser plates

A polyester film composite characterized by comprising a biaxially oriented polyester film having a thickness of 50 to 200 ν µm and a readily bondable coating film formed on one or each side thereof, and by having a haze lower than 2% and a total light transmittance of 90% or higher; and a light diffuser plate which comprises the composite and a light-diffusing layer superposed on the readily bondable coating film(s). The light diffuser plate has excellent optical properties when used in a liquid-crystal display. The polyester film composite is useful as a substrate for the plate.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biaxially stretched laminated polyester film useful as a base film of a light diffusing plate by giving easy adhesive properties of a light diffusing layer having further light transmission characteristics, or particularly a layer containing a resin bead while holding productivity to a biaxially stretched polyester film. SOLUTION: The biaxially stretched laminated polyester film comprises a polyester layer (A) containing inert particles of 0.00009 to 0.005 wt.% and having an intrinsic viscosity (ηA) of 0.50 to 0.58, a polyester layer (B) containing inert particles of 0.001 to 0.01 wt.% and having an intrinsic viscosity (ηB) of 0.54 to 0.62 and laminated on one or both surfaces of the layer (A), and easily adhesive layers provided on uppermost surfaces of both sides of the layer (B) so that a total thickness is 50 μm to 200 μm, the (ηB) is larger than the (ηA), a haze value of 100 μm of the laminated film is less than 0.7% and a total light ray transmittance is 90% or more. Biaxially stretched laminated polyester film

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester film suitable for the substrate of a light diffusion plate for a liquid crystal display device which is highly transparent and excels in adhesion to a double side acrylic resin. SOLUTION: The polyester film for a light diffusion plate is a biaxially oriented polyester film having a thickness of 50 μm to 200 μm, on both sides of which easily adherable coating films composed of (A) an aqueous polyester resin having a second-order transition point of 40-85 deg.C, (B) a fatty acid amide and/or a fatty acid bisamide, (c) an acrylic copolymer, and (D) a surface- roughening substance having a particle diameter of 0.01 μm to 0.30 μm and having a coating film thickness of 0.08-0.14 μm have been coated, respectively, and furthermore has a haze of =90%.
