Journal ArticleDOI
Fatty Material in Bacteria and Fungi Revealed by Staining Dried, Fixed Slide Preparations.
TL;DR: Following Hartman, who first suggested the use of Sudan black B, in place of red Sudans, as a bacterial fat stain, Burdon, Stokes, and Kimbrough confirmed the greater value of this dye and modified the procedure, resulting in the much superior procedure to be described here.
Journal ArticleDOI
Experimental Infection of Mice with Bacillus cereus: Studies of Pathogenesis and Pathologic Changes
Journal ArticleDOI
Useful criteria for the identification of Bacillus anthracis and related species.
TL;DR: Nine saprophytic species are referred to which in the following report are most likely to be encountered as contaminants from the laboratory dust, and in specimens from human beings or experimental animals, and which must be distinguished from B. anthracis.
Journal ArticleDOI
On the differentiation of anthrax bacilli from Bacillus cereus.
TL;DR: Results of the further studies will be presented on anthrax-like disease produced in laboratory animals as the result of inoculating rapidly multiplying B. cereus which had apparently been transformed into capsulated bacilli capable of causing "the gross pathology of anthrax."
Journal ArticleDOI
Observations on biochemical abnormalities in hereditary angioneurotic edema
TL;DR: Serum specimens collected from patients with hereditary angioneurotic edema showed low titers for inhibitors of serum kallikrein, and, when obtained shortly after an episode of edema, were deficient in available substrate for kall Kikrein activity, suggesting the possible participation in the edematous process of PF/Dil.
