The present invention relates to an air diffuser. The air diffuser comprises at least one primary discharge element. The secondary discharge element is arranged to discharge a secondary airstream capable of flowing across at least one surface that directs the secondary airstream substantially in a plane of the diffuser discharge face in the vicinity directly downstream of the secondary discharge element. The primary discharge element is arranged to discharge a primary airstream that is induced by the secondary discharged airstream such that the direction of the primary discharged airstream is largely determined by the direction of travel of the secondary airstream.

An air diffuser and an air circulation system

A floor mounted adjustable airflow assembly for use with an underfloor air distribution or diffuser system. The assembly comprises a circular grate housing nesting a rotatable and removable, circular grate mechanism, where the assembly includes a cam riding, continuous sleeve that may be recessed by rotation of the circular grate mechanism for full air flow, or extended to close off air flow, or readily set at selected positions therebetween as a means to control air flow from an underfloor plenum to the space above the floor.

Manually adjustable underfloor airflow damper assembly

A modular floor terminal mounted in the floor of an occupied space for delivering air from an underfloor air plenum to the occupied space. The modular floor terminal includes a square or rectangular housing with an air inlet at the bottom and an air outlet at the top. A rotating damper is positioned in the housing between the air inlet and the air outlet. The position of the damper is controlled by an actuator which is in turn controlled by a thermostat/controller in the occupied space above the floor.

A modular floor terminal basket with a damper is mounted in the floor of an occupied space for delivering air from an under floor air plenum to the occupied space above. The modular floor terminal basket with a damper includes a generally cylindrical basket with air inlet openings on the basket side and an air outlet at the top of the basket. A damper is positioned in the basket for movement from a lower opened position to an upper closed position. The position of the damper is controlled by an actuator which in turn is controlled by a thermostat/controller in the occupied space above the floor. The damper is slideably mounted on a damper guide extending from the bottom of the basket toward the air outlet at the top of the basket. The actuator rotates a threaded shaft that engages a threaded collar attached to the damper so that the damper slides up and down along the damper guide.

A variable air volume ceiling diffuser includes a damper that is raised and lowered by a linkage that is controlled by a duct temperature sensor/actuator and one or more room temperature sensors/actuators. The linkage includes a heating slide movable for the heating mode and a cooling slide movable for the cooling mode. The duct temperature sensor/actuator selects the heating slide for movement by the room temperature sensors/actuators in the heating mode and selects the cooling slide for movement by the room temperature sensors/actuators in the cooling mode. The differential movement between the heating and cooling slides moves a roller that engages a profiled cam surface attached to two lever arms. As the roller moves along the cam surface, the lever arms pivot about their axis of rotation so that the damper moves upward to close the air inlet and downward to open the air inlet.

Variable air volume ceiling diffuser

An air diffuser assembly for use in combination with an underfloor air distribution system, where the system includes in part a cavity under a floor, having an upper surface, transmitting air under pressure to selected locations above the floor. The air diffuser assembly comprises first and second annular rings threadably engaging one another and secured respectively to above and below the floor, where the first annular ring includes an annular shoulder for receiving a grill assembly. The grill assembly is seated on the shoulder and is in communication with the space above the upper surface. The grill assembly further includes a centrally disposed, downwardly extending, vertically adjustable rod mounting a circular basket at its free end. The basket includes an array of through holes for delivering pressurized air from the underfloor cavity to the diffuser assembly, and means, such as a rod, connecting the basket to the grill assembly to prevent rotation of the basket. Finally, plural, radially extending, fixed vanes are provided and secured about the vertically adjustable rod to discharge air under pressure from the basket and defined sub-chamber to the space above the upper surface to impart a radial spin to the discharged air.
