The invention relates to a method for operating a wind park; consisting of several wind power plants. The wind part is connected to an electric supply network into which the power produced by the wind park is fed and the wind park and/or at least one of the wind power plants of the wind park is provided with a control input which is used to adjust the electric power of the wind park or one or several individual wind plants within a range of 0-100 % of the respectively provided power, especially the nominal output thereof. A data processing device is connected to the control input and is used to adjust the control value within a range of 0-100 % according to the amount of power available from the entire wind part at the output where it is fed into the power network. The operator (EVU) of the electric power supply network to which the wind park is connected can adjust the power provided by the wind park via the control input.

A variable speed wind turbine generator system to convert mechanical power into electrical power or energy and to recover the electrical power or energy in the form of three phase alternating current and return the power or energy to a utility or other load with single phase sinusoidal waveform at sixty (60) hertz and unity power factor includes an excitation controller for generating three phase commanded current, a generator, and a zero sequence filter. Each commanded current signal includes two components: a positive sequence variable frequency current signal to provide the balanced three phase excitation currents required in the stator windings of the generator to generate the rotating magnetic field needed to recover an optimum level of real power from the generator; and a zero frequency sixty (60) hertz current signal to allow the real power generated by the generator to be supplied to the utility. The positive sequence current signals are balanced three phase signals and are prevented from entering the utility by the zero sequence filter. The zero sequence current signals have zero phase displacement from each other and are prevented from entering the generator by the star connected stator windings. The zero sequence filter allows the zero sequence current signals to pass through to deliver power to the utility.

Apparatus and method for controlling a variable speed wind turbine-generator at improved efficiencies is disclosed. The method and apparatus of the invention control the rotor tip speed below the limiting torque of the wind turbine at a selected constant velocity ratio with respect to wind speed and, above the limiting torque, control the rotor tip speed at speeds greater than those dictated by the constant velocity ratio up to a speed or power limit. This may be accomplished by controlling tip speed above the point where limiting torque is attainable to maintain optimal wind turbine performance along the performance envelope.

The present invention relates to a method for operating a wind turbine with the steps: detection of the values of predetermined operating parameters by means of suitable sensors, detection of at least one predetermined initial condition, comparison of the detected values to stored values of the operating parameters. The invention further relates to a wind turbine for implementing the method. Therefore, the object of the present invention is, to be able to adapt the operation of a wind turbine to changes using a method of the type named above, such that when the detected parameter values deviate from the stored parameter values, as a function of the initial condition, either the stored parameter values are adapted to the detected parameter values or the operation of the wind turbine is influenced as a function of the detected parameter values. In this way, the invention is based on the knowledge that, from a pragmatic view, the formation of ice on a rotor blade is also a (temporary, meteorologically-related) change to the rotor blade shape. From this it follows that the formation of ice on the rotor blades always leads to a change of the aerodynamic profile and thus to a negative effect of the output of the wind turbine. However, deviations from this shape and thus deviations in the magnitude of the generated output also result just from manufacturing-dependent deviations of the rotor blades from the predetermined optimum shape and from gradual soiling of the rotor blades during operation.

Stresses on the system during startup and shutdown are minimized by scheduling the blade angle as a function of the rotor speed and wind velocity to provide a minimum blade angle relative to the fully powered blade angle during rotor acceleration, and to provide a minimum blade angle relative to the fully powered blade angle during rotor deceleration.
