Education and Economic Growth: A Meta-Regression Analysis

This paper surveys the literature that examines the effect of education on economic growth Specifically, we apply meta-regression analysis to 56 studies with 979 estimates and show that there is substantial publication selection bias towards a positive impact of education on growth Once we account for this, we find evidence of a genuine effect of education on economic growth The variation in reported estimates can be attributed to differences in the measurement of education and study characteristics, most importantly model specification, estimation methodology, type of data and the research outlet where studies were published, eg academic journals vs working papers

This paper examines the role of RD upper-middle-income economies and lower middle-income economies. The result reveals a beneficial impact of R&D spending on economic growth in developing countries. The effect of R&D spending on growth is positive for upper middle-income economies while insignificant in lower income economies. R&D spending has different short and long run effects on growth. Using simultaneous equation models to account for simultaneity and endogeneity, R&D spending remains beneficial to growth and the results remain consistent with the dynamic system estimator.

Are structural policies in countries bordering mediterranean appropriate to economic convergence: Panel ARDL application

The objective of this paper is to analyze the effect of various compositions of human capital on economic growth. We construct alternative measures of human capital composition using five fields of study. In each instance, the measure represents the number of graduates in the respective field as a percentage of all graduates. The measures are as follows: agriculture human capital (AGR); high-tech human capital (TECH); business and service human capital (SERVICE); the humanities human capital (HUMAN); and health and welfare human capital (HEALTH). This paper uses the OLS and System-Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) models to explain differential rates of growth among developed and developing countries. The evidence indicates the significant effects of education and high-tech human capital on growth.
