The neural network model of Job shop scheduling problem is built. The characteristics and properties of its solutions are studied. A Hybrid Genetic Algorithm, combining genetic algorithm with neural network, for Job shop scheduling problem is described. The corresponding simulation shows that our method is good for complex production scheduling, at calculation time and goodness.

The objective of this paper is to examine practices for incorporating resilience by transportation agencies. This paper presents findings from state-wide interviews and survey of personnel in transportation organizations throughout Texas. This study is focused on resilience planning and practices (not emergency management and evacuation planning). The research examines the state of resilience incorporation in transportation project planning and development. Our analysis reveals the gap between resilience research and engineering practice and highlights the need for innovative and practical methods, processes, and information for resilience integration. The findings suggest that while there are a few available frameworks for incorporating resilience, the implementation of these tools varies significantly in different districts and organizations. Elements needed to facilitate consideration of resilience in transportation planning and project development include proper policy and procedures, adequate funding and financing, knowledgeable staff, within- and cross-organization coordination, and proper tools, metrics, and data. This research helps facilitate prioritization and strategic improvement of efforts for resilience integration in transportation planning and project development.

Optimal restoration schedules of transportation network considering resilience

The emergency medical response after a strong earthquake relies on a robust transportation–healthcare system and effective management. This article proposes a resilience assessment framework for the interdependent transportation–healthcare system (ITHS) integrating physical loss and organisational management during post-earthquake emergency response. Considering the earthquake-induced injured people, the seismic damage to transportation, and the quantification of the condition of the patients after being treated, a novel metric is proposed to evaluate the response effort during the first 72 h. Bi-objective optimisation is developed to solve the real-time dispatching and treating problems instead of overwhelming one single hospital. In addition, the separate impact of disrupted transportation and damaged healthcare on the interdependent system is calculated to measure the cascading effect. It is shown that proper resource allocation and practical management are crucial to guarantee the desired level of the response effort.
