SOLUTION: In the air diffusing method, a tube type membrane diffuser is used, and the tube type membrane diffuser has a tube base material and an elastic film covering the outer surface of the tube base material. Many slits are formed in the elastic film and minute air bubbles are produced from the slits. In this air diffusing method, one or more tube type membrane diffusers are used and aeration is carried out to each tube type membrane diffuser at 13Nm 3 /m 2 hr or below. The aeration apparatus includes: an air supply pipe for supplying air through a discharge means; aeration nozzles 123 including an introduction portion for introducing air 122 supplied from an opening 15a of a header 15 in communication with the air supply pipe, and a support body extending from the introduction portion and covered with the diffused-air film having a plurality of slits for discharging the air 122 to the outside; a water introducing means for introducing water into the header through the air supply pipe; and an atomizing unit 25 for atomizing the introduced water 141 with the aid of the air 122 supplied from the opening 15a of the header. A water mist 141a atomized by the atomizing unit 25 passes through the slit and is discharged to the outside together with the air 122.

The diffuser apparatus includes: an aeration plate that is disposed in an aeration tank in order to release pressurized air, fed from a diffusing air feed pipe, as air bubbles from fine pores formed in an aeration plate surface; blow water feeder for feeding blow water into the diffusing air feed pipe; and an inserted pipe for discharging the blow water, fed into the diffusing air feed pipe, from the aeration plate.

SOLUTION: The wastewater treatment apparatus 10 is equipped with: an aeration tank 2 for housing microbial sludge to biologically treat organic wastewater; a final sedimentation basin 3 for receiving the supply of the aerated liquid, which is discharged from the aeration tank 2, and separating and recovering separated sludge containing the microbial sludge from the aerated liquid; and a sludge volume-reducing tank 4 to which at least a part of a biologically treated liquid and/or separated sludge is supplied as a liquid to be treated. The sludge volume reducing tank 4 is constituted so that the microbial sludge contained in the liquid to be treated is gathered to form particulate granules, the granules to be preyed formed by adding animalcule for preying upon the microbial sludge are added to granules are housed and the volume of the microbial sludge is reduced by the predation of the animalcule. SOLUTION: The air diffusion method comprises using the air diffuser which is provided with plates and the air diffusion membranes arranged to cover the plates and has air housing sections between the plates and the air diffusion membranes. The method includes an air diffusion step of supplying air to the air housing sections of the air diffuser arranged in the water to be treated and spouting air bubbles into the water to be treated from the air diffusion bores produced by expanding the air diffusion membranes by the pressure of the air, and a washing step of stopping the supply of the air while keeping the air diffuser arranged in the water to be treated and washing the air diffusion bores by washing water.
