Finite equational bases for finite algebras in a congruence-distributive equational class*
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that for lattice-ordered algebraic systems, it is sufficient to be a finite member of an equational class of systems whose congruence lattices are distributive.

Free Vector Lattices
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a useful explicit characterization of the free vector lattice FVL(ℵ) on generators as a vector-lattice of piecewise linear, continuous functions on R ℵ, where R is any cardinal and R is the set of real numbers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Growth problems for avoidable words
TL;DR: It is shown that there exists a word that is avoidable on four letters but not on three letters, and the number of words of length L on a μ(U)-letter alphabet that avoid U has a polynomial bound in terms of L, so that the question of the existence of such an example is resolved in the affirmative.
