PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method by which a boss member having a sharp serration part can be obtained only by manufacturing the member by plastic working using heading and forming by rolling. SOLUTION: The boss member manufacturing method comprises obtaining a primarily worked stock material 11 by forming the serration part 7 in a head part 3 by heading of a stock material 10, and forming an excess thickness part 12 of a thickness approximately half the head part thickness (T) from the serration part 7 on the end surface side of the head part 3, then forming a secondarily worked stock material 13 having the serration part 7 over the entire part on the outer periphery of the head part in a trimming process 40, and further, obtaining the boss member 1 by plastically working a recessed part 5 in the secondarily worked stock material 13 in a rolling process 40. The manufacturing cost of the boss member can thus be reduced. Even more, there is no more occurrence of burrs on the under surface of the head part and the need for finishing in order to remove the same is eliminated. Whereas, the angle on the seat surface side of the head part is made sharper and therefore, the press fitting force during press fitting of the boss member into a workpiece can be reduced. Boss member manufacturing method

PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound useful as an antiozonant, without using special catalysts, in high yield even in the case wherein higher alkyl ketone is used as raw material, by the catalytic hydrogenation of mitrodiphenylamine and an alkyl ketone in the presence of an alcohol. CONSTITUTION:An alkylaminodiphenylamine of formula II is obtained by the catalytic hydrogenation of nitrodiphenylamine and an alkyl ketone of formula I (R is 1-2C alkyl; R' is 3-6C alkyl) in the presence of a 1-6C alcohol, e.g. methanol, ethylene glycol, hexanediol, etc. methyl isobutyl ketone, ethyl amyl ketone, etc. may be cited as the alkyl ketone. The amount of said alcohol used is suitably 10- 50wt% based on nitrodiphenylamine. EFFECT:There is no necessity of using a poisoned noble-metal catalyst or synthesizing a Schiff base as an intermediate.
