A vibration isolator (10) for isolating the vibration of two bodies that are connected together is disclosed. The vibration isolator (10) comprises an inner cylinder (16) and a pair of outer housings (12, 14) concentrically bonded together with elastomer structures (18, 20) to form two chambers (22, 26) that are joined by a tuning port (24). The elastomer structures (18, 20) may serve both as the seals for the chambers (22, 26) and the compliant spring members in the isolator (10). The isolator (10) connects to a vibrating body a spherical bearing (28). The chambers (22, 26) and tuning port (24) are filled with an inviscid fluid (34) and pressurized to prevent cavitation. In certain embodiments, pressure within the isolator (10) is maintained by a volume compensating device (30) connected to the chambers (22, 26) via a small diameter orifice (36).

Vertical liquid inertia vibration isolator

An oleo-pneumatic shock absorber having a casing, a rod slidably mounted in the casing, first and second fluids in the casing, and a gauge. The gauge has a substrate positioned on the shock absorber. The substrate has a first region with a slot sized to fit an ultrasonic transducer arranged to encompass a range of possible oil levels within the shock absorber, a second region corresponding to a range of possible extension states of the shock absorber and a third region comprising one or more traces. Each trace corresponds to a temperature value and is indicative of an optimum relationship between the oil levels and the range of extension states at the respective temperature value associated with the trace.

The invention relates to a method for measuring the gas pressure in gas suspension or gas storage spheres (1), in particular, when in the assembled state in a motor vehicle and a device for application of the method. According to the invention, the checking of gas suspension or gas storage spheres my be simplified, whereby, for determination of the gas pressure, at least one temperature measurement of the shell of the sphere is taken, the actual value determined is compared with a set value thereof and the resulting difference is displayed. By means of the temperature measurement taken of the shell of the sphere, with reference to the stored measured data for the various operating states of the gas suspension or gas storage spheres (1), deviations from the set values may be determined in a simple and reproducible manner. The particular advantage of the invention is that the measurement may occur in the constructed vehicle and only the hydraulic pressure in the vehicle need be altered.

Method for measuring the gas pressure in gas suspension or gas storage spheres

A change in distance between wheel and chassis results in fluid being returned to the reservoir. The volume of fluid is proportional to the gas pressure. The connector (18) fits in the filler opening (2) of the reservoir (1). The manually-controlled valve (26) is closed. The return line (22) is disconnected from its pipe (8) and connected to the container input (20). The vehicle is jacked up on one side and the volume of returned fluid measured on the scale (34).
