A system is described for maintaining synchrony of operations among a plurality of devices having independent clocking arrangements. A task distribution device is to distribute tasks to a synchrony group comprising a plurality of devices to perform tasks distributed by the task distribution device in synchrony. The task distribution device distributes each task to synchrony group members over a network. Each task is associated with a time stamp that indicates a time, relative to a clock maintained by the task distribution device, at which synchrony group members are to execute the task. Each synchrony group member periodically obtains from the task distribution device an indication of current time indicated by its clock, determines a time differential between the task distribution device's clock and its respective clock and determines therefrom a time at which, according to its respective clock, the time stamp indicates that it is to execute the task.

An audio element cache is provided that is capable of caching audio elements for each user in a personal radio server system. In operation, customized radio content is provided to remote listeners in a personal radio server system by: storing a plurality of audio elements in a file server; retrieving a subset of the plurality of audio elements from the file server by predicting the content desired by a remote listener based on a user profile of the remote listener; storing the subset of the plurality of audio elements in an audio element cache; selecting audio elements to provide to a remote listener from the audio element cache; and transmitting the audio elements to the remote listener. In an embodiment, the plurality of audio elements are stored in the audio element cache when a remote listener logs-on the personal radio server system.

Systems and methods of generating and modifying a playlist using contextual information are disclosed. For example, a user may provide an input seed such as a song name or artist name. The input seed is compared to database items and a playlist is generated as a result. In some examples, the contextual information is used to enhance the comparison and to select better content objects for a user's playlist. Meanwhile, in some examples the content objects in the playlist may be arranged in an enhanced order using ranking and/or contextual information.

Methods and systems for utilizing contextual feedback to generate and modify playlists

Separate computer systems may participate in a Health Data Network (HDN) such that the computer systems are linked so as to share various types of healthcare-related information. The shared information may include patient record information. The integration of the patient record information is accomplished by maintaining a Global Master Patient Index (GMPI). Such a GMPI may integrate patient record information used by multiple healthcare organizations, facilities, or businesses. Such a GMPI may also integrate patient record information for a single business having multiple sites or computer systems, e.g., a large hospital. A system for correcting errors in the transmission of data packets between a source and a receiver. The source sends data packets to the client unit and server unit. The system uses the client unit and the server unit to send a repaired packet stream to a receiver when an error is detected. The client unit detects errors in the packet stream and sends retransmission requests of the lost data packets to the server unit. The server unit retransmits the lost data packet to the client unit, which then corrects the packet stream by inserting the lost packet into the proper time order and transmitting the repaired packet stream to the receiver.
