PURPOSE:To reduce the size and to improve the energy efficiency by absorbing small regenerative energy of an elevator by a storage battery, and consuming a large regenerative energy which cannot be absorbed by the battery via a resistor. CONSTITUTION:When an elevator is in a regenerative mode, regenerative energy is returned to a DC power source side through a free wheel diode connected in anti-parallel with the transistor of an inverter stack 3, and the regenerative energy is not absorbed by a storage battery 12. When the regenerative energy increases and the battery 12 cannot completely absorb the regenerative energy, a detector 9 for detecting an inverter DC voltage operates to turn ON a regenerative energy absorbing power transistor 10, and the energy is consumed via a resistor 11.

PURPOSE:To prevent the overheating of motor as well as increase the current of armature according to speed deviation by controlling the current of armature in one direction, controlling the field current in both direction, and then by contolling the torque of motor in both the positive and negative directions. CONSTITUTION:The field winding between the field winding terminals J1 to J6 of the motor 7 is connected in series in such a way that the field voltage is less than the voltage of the field control thyristor 17 of the field control power source device 16. The pre-amplifier 13 dispatches a deviation signal between a speed command from the speed command device 11 and apeed back signal from the speed generator 12, and the field phase shifter 15 receives the deviation signal and a field current detected at the current detector 14 and then controls the phase of the field control thyristor 17. Thus, even in case where the conventional type motor is placed under field current control, only the series connection of field winding is sufficient without needs to make the design change of field circuit, and also the armature current can be increased according to the speed deviation, thus permitting the overheating of motor to be prevented.

PURPOSE:To improve the speed control characteristics and reduce the size of a speed controller, by detecting the time of change in the acceleration or deceleration of an elevator and controlling an armature current. CONSTITUTION:An acceleration differentiator 52, which differentiates the acceleration to generate an output, is coupled to the output of a speed generator 12. The output of the acceleration differentiator 52 is applied to a phase shifter 28 for an armature 8 so that the output is added to an instruction, which is applied by an armature current instructor 25. A part of the armature current is thus controlled as a function of the acceleration change rate. As a result, the armature current quickly responds to the acceleration change rate to improve the speed characteristics the armature current is increased to raise the torque and the delay in a field circuit is compensated to reduce the forcing factor of a field control power source 16. This makes it possible to reduce the capacity of a transformer 36 and the dielectric strength of a thyristor 17.
