PURPOSE:To provide a resin compsn. having excellent processing characteristics and physical and mechanical characteristics and suitable for use as a material for a video disk, by blending carbon black with a polymer obtd. by graft- polymerizing vinyl chloride onto an ethylene/vinyl ester copolymer in the presence of a dispersant. CONSTITUTION:2-40wt% carbon black is blended with a vinyl chloride graft copolymer obtd. by graft-polymerizing 99.5-80pts.wt. vinyl chloride or mixture thereof with other copolymerizable monomer in the presence of 0.5-20pts.wt. ethylene/vinyl ester copolymer. Said graft copolymer is prepd. by commercing polymn. in the presence of a sorbitan higher fatty acid ester dispersant and/or a polyvinyl alcohol dispersant having a degree of polymn. of 500 or below and a degree of saponification of 60mol% or below and adding a water-soluble dispersant to the polymn. mixture when the conversion of the monomer to the polymer reaches 3-40%.

Vinyl chloride resin composition

A resin composition comprising (a) a vinyl chloride/ethylene copolymer having an ethylene content in the range of 3 to 12% by weight, an average degree of polymerization in the range of 700 to 2900 and a ratio of weight average molecular weight to number average molecular weight in the range of from 2.5:1 to 5.5:1, (b) an ethylene/carbon monoxide/vinyl acetate copolymer, and (c) a glycerin ester of a specific epoxidized aliphatic carboxylic acid. This resin composition is suitable for making medical devices, especially bags for storing transfusion fluids, receptacles for storing blood, and tubes for a blood circuit in artificial kidneys.

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled sheet which does not stain objects in contact therewith by the migration of plasticizers, by molding a vinyl chloride polymer compsn. contg. a specified ethylene polymer and a specified polyester plasticizer blended therewith into a sheet. CONSTITUTION:A vinyl chloride polymer (A) such as polyvinyl chloride or a vinyl chloride/ethylene copolymer, a high-molecular ethylene polymer (B) such as a terpolymer composed of 40-80wt% ethylene, 10-60wt% vinyl acetate and 3- 30wt% carbon monoxide and a polyester plasticizer (C) having an average MW of 1,200-3,000 such as adipate polyester plasticizer (a product of A deka Argus Kagaku K.K.) are mixed together in such a proportion as to satisfy the relationship represented by formulas I to IV (the shaded portion surrounded by straight lines in the triangular composition diagram). The mixture is molded into a sheet by a conventional method.

PURPOSE: To provide a resin compsn. with reduced hemolytic effect and cytotoxicity, by a method wherein finely divided magnesium oxide or calcium oxide powder is blended with a mixt. of a vinyl chloride resin and an ethylene-carbon monoxide- vinyl acetate copolymer. CONSTITUTION: 5W200pts.wt. of an ethylene-carbon monoxide-vinyl acetate copolymer and 0.01W10pts.wt. of finely divided magnesium oxide or calcium oxide powder are blended with 100pts.wt. of a vinyl chloride resin. The ethylene-carbon monoxide-vinly acetate copolymer used is one resulting from the copolymerization of 0.03W5pts.wt. of carbon monoxide and 0.1W0.9pts.wt. of vinyl acetate with 1pt.wt. of ethylene. When the amount of said copolymer is less than 5pts.wt., flexibility can not be obtd. When the amount of said copolymer is more than 200pts.wt., the compsn. is too flexible and is difficult to retain its shape. Improver of weathring resistance and heat stability of synthetic resin

Compositions for improving the weatherability of synthetic resins are prepared by modifying an epoxy resin with at least one acid selected from the group consisting of cinnamic acid, α-methylcinnamic acid and o-coumaric acid. The addition of such agents to synthetic resins provides a resulting resin which has improved weatherability, transparency and thermal stability.
