Self-calibration method and software error correction for three dimensional coordinate measuring machines using artefact measurements

TL;DR: The self-calibration method carried out on a CNC 3-D coordinate measuring machine and the resulting software error correction has been evaluated using step-gauge measurements show that the systematic geometrical errors are greatly reduced.
Journal ArticleDOI

Results of the CIRP-Euromet Intercomparison of Ball Plate-Based Techniques for Determining CMM Parametric Errors

TL;DR: The results show the potential of the compared techniques are essentially equivalent in their capabilities of predicting and compensating for CMM geometrical errors.
Book ChapterDOI

Self-Calibration Method for Three Dimensional Coordinate Measuring Machines Using a Ball Plate

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a self-calibration method that uses a ball plate for error identification, but unlike other methods the ball plate needs not to be calibrated, i.e. the distances between the different balls on the plate need not be known accurately.
