Digital image forgery detection using passive techniques: A survey

In the last two decades, Chaos theory has received a great deal of attention from the cryptographic community. This paper presents two ideas. First idea is using chaotic functions to overcome the weaknesses of the classical Hill cipher. The second idea is proposing a new encoder-decoder architecture, called ChaoEncoDeco, for securing JPEG images. An extra stage of encryption is embedded within the traditional JPEG codec to improve security level of such system. This security stage uses one of the chaotic functions called Logistic Map. This map is used to enhance the Hill cipher and achieve more secure encryption key. The properties of both chaotic system and of the Hill cipher encryption key are all utilized to obtain ultimate secure systems. The proposed encryption algorithm is crypto-analyzed and compared to the standard Hill cipher algorithm. Complete evaluation for the proposed architecture is also performed which indicates the effectiveness of the proposed system.

Securing JPEG architecture based on enhanced chaotic hill cipher algorithm

Encryption is a process or algorithm to make information hidden or secret and considered as a subset of cryptography. Using encryption data are being transformed into some another form that appears to be meaningless and incomprehensible. Here we have embedded encrypted data bits about the entire image to some suitable nonlinear pixel positions using key. After that we have formed several shares of image and key using R, G and B components and character or digits respectively. At the decryption end through appropriate arrangement of shares of image and key, make possible to retrieve hidden data bits from stego-image and reform into its original content.

An Image Steganography-based Novel Approach to develop 8-Share Integrated Security Toolkit (ISTI-8)

In this paper, an optimal compression ratio is discussed based on JPEG2000 baseline compression in RGB space. Human eyes are more sensitive to green color than to red and blue colors. Hence, optimal compression ratios should be adopted during quantization. A novel mathematical model for co-relationship of three color components in RGB is developed. VDR (voyage data recorder) test methods combined with information entropy are used to evaluate the optimal compression ratio, considering the human eye characteristics. Simulation results have proven the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Development of secure encoder-decoder for JPEG images

A fast rate-distortion analytical framework for the PSNR-based optimization of JPEG baseline compression on color images is proposed in this paper. The analysis is conducted in the luminance-chrominance color space and based upon the ?-domain analysis method [1]. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme can dramatically improve the performance of the JPEG baseline compression on color images in terms of peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR). Meanwhile, while the complexity of the proposed scheme is kept low, its results are very close to that from exhaustive searching method.
