On the non-thermal electron-to-proton ratio at cosmic ray acceleration sites

TL;DR: In this article, a detailed calculation of the electron-proton ratio, dropping the assumption of equal spectral indices, is presented, in the case of the classical minimum energy of T0,e=T0,p=10 keV, with absolute spectral indices varying between 2.2αe=αp≈2.2.

Deepening the understanding of cosmic-ray diffusion

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors characterized the rigidity regimes of the diffusion coefficient for arbitrary rigidities and guide fields, which they derived as a function of physical and numerical parameters, and showed that at turbulence levels above 5\% of the total magnetic field, the approximation of an energy dependence ω(kappa ω/propto E^{1/3}$ as predicted for a Kolmogorov spectrum within Quasi-Linear Theory does not hold.

Regimes of cosmic-ray diffusion in Galactic turbulence

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors quantify the parallel and perpendicular diffusion of particles in a magnetic field composed of both a turbulent and a mean component at turbulence levels above 5% of the total magnetic field and apply their results to the Milky Way, showing that simple purely diffusive transport is in conflict with observations of the inner Galaxy.
