Update on Human Herpesvirus 6 Biology, Clinical Features, and Therapy
TL;DR: The insight into the clinical spectrum of HHV-6 is still evolving and, apart from being recognized as a major pathogen in transplant recipients, its role in central nervous system disease has become increasingly apparent.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antiviral agents active against human herpesviruses HHV-6, HHV-7 and HHV-8
TL;DR: It is shown that mycophenolic acid potentiates the activity of acyclic guanosine analogues against herpesvirus type 6, ‐7 and ‐8, and the most potent compounds with the highest antiviral selectivity index were: foscarnet, S2242, A‐5021 and cidofovir.
Journal ArticleDOI
Home Medication Cabinets and Self-Medication: A Source of Potential Health Threats?
TL;DR: The nature and safety of medication storage and intended self-medication in a general population and the inclination of patients toward self-initiated treatment using nonprescription drugs are evaluated are evaluated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Potent, selective and cell-mediated inhibition of human herpesvirus 6 at an early stage of viral replication by the non-nucleoside compound CMV423.
Leen De Bolle,Graciela Andrei,Robert Snoeck,Ying Zhang,Alfons Van Lommel,Michael J. Otto,Anne Bousseau,Christine Roy,Erik De Clercq,Lieve Naesens +9 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that high concentrations of CMV423 have an inhibitory effect on the total cellular protein tyrosine kinase activity, and thatCMV423 and herbimycin A, when combined, act synergistically against HHV-6.
Journal ArticleDOI
COPD Management in Primary Care: An Observational, Community Pharmacy-Based Study
Els Mehuys,Koen Boussery,Els Adriaens,Lucas Van Bortel,Leen De Bolle,Inge Van Tongelen,Jean Paul Remon,Guy Brusselle +7 more
TL;DR: This observational study on COPD management in primary care highlights 4 main aspects that could be improved: drug adherence, inhalation technique with pMDIs, influenza vaccination in COPD patients younger than 65 years, and smoking cessation.
