Process and apparatus to remove colloids and nitrogen compounds from contaminated water by coagulating the colloids and separating them from the water. The water is then continuously oxidized with chlorine electrolytically to destroy the nitrogen compounds.

Method and system for biologic decontamination of a vessel's ballast water

A hypochlorite generator is disclosed which can make use of multiple, flat, plate-like bipolar electrodes. The electrodes are housed in non-conductive casing members which can be outfitted with fastening means that facilitate easy access for inspection and cleaning of electrodes. Bipolar electrodes are recessed in the casing members whereby a fluid flow passageway is left between plate electrodes. Desirable fluid flow velocities may be achieved, coupled with excellent cell efficiencies.

Using the signaling protocol, an inquiry as to whether the routing of the link is to be performed in the packet-oriented communication network or in the mobile radio network is directed by the network facility from the packet-oriented communication network to the home location register of the mobile radio network.

Methods and systems for treating wastewater. Wastewater slurry collected in a tank is routed by a macerator pump. The macerated slurry is piped to an electrolytic cell to oxidize and disinfect it. The slurry is then piped to an electrocoagulation cell. Suspended solid particles are flocculated in the electrocoagulation cell. The flocculated slurry is routed to a primary settling tank for separation of sludge and a substantially clarified supernatant. The supernatant is piped to a secondary clarifying tank to facilitate further separation of the sludge. The sludge is discharged to a sludge collection tank. The turbidity levels of the sludge discharged is continually monitored. When the turbidity level equals a pre-determined low value, the sludge discharge is stopped. The substantially clarified supernatant may be discharged as an effluent following dechlorination.

Marine wastewater treatment

A compact, relatively small unit for treatment of wastewater for discharge into maritime waters is disclosed. The wastewater is received in a surge or retention tank and is delivered by gravity flow or pumped to a macerator for comminution of the solids content of the wastewater. Prior to entering the macerator, salt water on a controlled flow basis is added to the wastewater in sufficient amounts to insure a high enough salt content for use as the electrolyte in an electrocatalytic cell. From the macerator the wastewater to be treated is directed into a vertically oriented, elongated, electrocatalytic cell having a plurality of parallel, closely spaced electrodes therein positioned parallel to the flow of wastewater therethrough. The wastewater is directed through the electrocatalytic unit. The end electrodes of the spaced electrode plates are connected to a source of direct current sufficient to generate chlorine, oxygen and other treating chemicals in situ. The gases generated in the cell, entrained with the liquid, flow out of the electrocatalytic cell with the liquid into the standpipe of an effluent tank where a negative pressure separates the entrained gases from the liquid and vents them to the atmosphere. The heavier solids remaining in the discharged treated liquid are allowed to settle in the bottom of the effluent tank and the remaining effluent is discharged.
