Described herein are power receptacle wireless access point (AP) devices that may be used as part of a networked (smart) living and work space. These power receptacle wireless AP devices may be wall-mounted and/or retrofitted over existing electrical outlets or light switches, for providing wireless access to a room or region of a room. The power receptacle wireless AP device may connect via power line communication to a data connection.

Techniques are provided to adaptively adjust a clear channel assessment threshold for use when a wireless device is to transmit in a wireless network that operates on a channel in a radio frequency band. A first wireless device, configured to wirelessly communicate with one or more second wireless device in the wireless network, receives energy on the channel in the frequency band, analyzes the received energy to detect interference on the channel and determines a type of interference detected in the received energy. The clear channel assessment threshold is adjusted by an amount depending on the type of interference detected.

Mitigating effects of identified interference with adaptive CCA threshold

A system that incorporates the subject disclosure may perform, for example, a method for receiving interference information, identifying a plurality of interferers, approximating a location of the plurality of interferers, and adjusting an antenna pattern of an antenna. Method and apparatus for interference mitigation utilizing antenna pattern adjustments

A microwave communication system may include subscriber stations in communication with a base station. The stations may include time duplex circuitry normally found in wireless local area networks (WLANs). Signals normally routed through antennas associated with such circuitry instead are routed through circuitry to perform frequency conversion to and from microwave communications frequencies, for communications over microwave links between the subscriber stations and the base station. In some embodiments the wireless circuitry is configured for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) operation with one antenna port dedicated for transmission of data and one antenna port dedicated to reception of data.

Point-to-multipoint microwave communication

Multi-directional antenna apparatuses, including phased array antennas and/or arrays of multiple antennas, and methods for operating them. In particular, described herein are access point (AP) antenna apparatuses for communicating with one or more station devices by assigning a particular directional beam to each access point, and communicating with each station device using the assigned directional beam. Methods and apparatuses configured to optimize the assignment of one or more directional beam and for communicating between different station devices using assigned directional beams are described. Also described are compact lacunated RF lenses that may be used with the multi-directional antenna apparatuses described herein, having a plurality of holes/openings through the lens body so that an electromagnetic signal entering the lens body from any of the input ports into the lens will exit from each of the output ports at a time delay corresponding to a predetermined steering angle.

Array antennas having a plurality of directional beams

At a wireless device operating in an unlicensed frequency band, energy received at a plurality of antennas is analyzed to detect interference on a channel in the unlicensed frequency band. The type of interference detected in the received energy is determined. Parameters are then generated for a nulling filter based on the type of interference detected in the received energy. The nulling filter is applied to the received energy at the plurality of antennas to produce a spatially filtered output. The spatially filtered output is evaluated to determine whether to send a transmission on the channel in the unlicensed frequency band.

Dynamic clear channel assessment using spectrum intelligent interference nulling

Interference in an unlicensed frequency band is spatially filtered out from received signals at a wireless device operating in the unlicensed frequency band. Energy received at a plurality of antennas of the wireless is device is analyzed to detect interference in the unlicensed frequency band. The detected interference is classified by type. Parameters for a nulling filter are generated or selected based on the type of interference detected in the received energy. During a time interval when it is expected to receive desired signals, the nulling filter is applied using the parameters to signals obtained from energy received at the plurality of antennas during the time interval.

Adaptive Interference Nulling for MIMO Receiver Based on Interference Characteristics

Techniques are provided to allow for implicit determination of the full spatial signature of a wireless channel between first and second wireless devices for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless communication between the first and second wireless devices. The first wireless device receives uplink signals at a plurality of antennas of the first wireless device that are transmitted via a plurality of antennas of a second wireless device. Values at a plurality of subcarriers of the received signals across the plurality of antennas of the first wireless device are derived. Using a sliding window for groups of adjacent subcarriers, downlink beamforming weights are computed for each group of subcarriers using channel information of one or more proximate groups of subcarriers. The downlink beamforming weights for the respective groups of subcarriers are applied to a number of spatial streams in a downlink transmission to be transmitted to the second wireless device.
