This document provides updates to IEEE Std 802.16's MIB for the MAC, PHY and asso- ciated management procedures in order to accommodate recent extensions to the standard.

A Mobile ad hoc network is a gathering of various data transmission node. The nodes in the MANET are movable. Due to this quality of Mobile ad hoc network, the topology is highly dynamic. There is no fixed infrastructure in this type of network. Any node that wants to transmit the data from origin node to sink node in the network, the data has to promote from one node to another node to reach the destination node. In this paper we have done a comparative investigation of three routing protocols in MANET by varying the pause time. The simulations have been made by considering the three parameters throughput, packet delivery ratio and end to end delay. The simulator used for making the comparative analysis NS-2.33. The results show that the DSR protocol outperforms the other two protocols AODV and DSDV in Throughput and packet delivery ratio and DSDV outperform the AODV and DSR in end to end delay.

An Investigational Analysis of DSDV, AODV and DSR Routing Protocols in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

With the increase in the capacity of mobile communication devices, it is but natural to expect that these devices would work ubiquitously anywhere anytime to offer high data rate support. Recently 60 GHz frequency band has been identified as an obvious choice for the high data rate indoor communications. However, as the 60 GHz radio system relies on line-of-sight (LOS) transmission for achieving Gbps data rate, the communication can be easily interrupted by obstructions breaking the LOS link, which happens often due to the movement of people in a typical indoor environment. In this paper, we define and present an analytical model for assessing link stability of 60 GHz radio for indoor wireless networks. We have developed a ray-based model to calculate the shadowing loss caused by the presence of people around the communication link while taking into account the indoor channel characteristics of 60 GHz radio and the antenna configuration. We have further considered different types of mobility of people with the ray-based model of 60 GHz link to obtain a holistic link stability model in realistic scenarios. We have given examples to show the relevance of our model and its applicability using both simulation and numerical evaluations.

Analyzing 60 GHz radio links for indoor communications

An ad hoc network is a collection of wireless mobile nodes dynamically forming a temporary network without the use of any pre-existing network infrastructure or centralized administration. Routing protocols used in ad hoc networks must automatically adjust to environments that can vary between the extremes of high mobility with low bandwidth, and low mobility with high bandwidth. I have analyzed a routing protocol called Dynamic Source Routing (DSR). As a result of its unique design, the protocol adapts quickly to routing changes when node movement is frequent, yet requires little or no overhead during periods in which nodes move less frequently. By presenting a detailed analysis of DSR’s behaviour in a variety of situations, this paper generalizes the lessons learned from DSR so that they can be applied to the many other new routing protocols that have adopted the basic DSR framework. In the DSR protocol, a backup route will be initiated to transfer data (in route cache) when the initial route is broken. However, a backup route affects the overall network performance such as end-to-end delay, etc. In this paper, I showed the simulation results of the dynamic source routing protocol based on it’s throughput, pause time, packet received, drop packet ratio, end to end delay, packet delivery fraction, and routing overhead. This results shows that dynamic source routing protocol is an efficient protocol to be used in Ad Hoc network and its performance is good when its pause time is increases.

Performance Analysis Of Dynamic Source Routing Protocol In Wireless Mobile Ad Hoc Network

In order to reduce the power consumption to extend the lifetime of battery-powered Mobile Stations (MSs), IEEE 802.16e has introduced a sleep mode to decrease the usage of air interface resources of serving Base Stations (BSs). In the sleep mode, MS enters into a sleep cycle after negotiating with serving BS and stops its traffic service temporarily. In order to reduce the energy consumption as well as decrease the packet delay especially in low traffic scenario, this paper proposes a novel power saving algorithm for sleep mode in which the sleep interval is increased in power function each time until a maximum sleep interval threshold is reached. Theoretical analysis and simulation experiments demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can achieve significantly less mean energy consumption and mean response time compared with exponential and linear increase algorithms. Furthermore, this paper analyzes the performance impact of each parameter in the algorithm and presents how to configure the sleep mode parameters.

An efficient power saving mechanism for sleep mode in IEEE 802.16e networks

To choose more stable route in Ad Hoc network, it integrated the link stability arithmetic and the principle of the least hop number in route discovery, and proposed link stability Dynamic Source Routing protocol. This protocol chooses route with high link stability, and decreases the number of route interrupted, which results in lower packet loss rate and improves the performance of the network. It obtains all messages needed to control this arithmetic from packets transmitted between nodes. The simulation shows it is a simple and high efficient routing protocol.

Dynamic Source Routing Protocol Based on Link Stability Arithmetic

In IEEE 802.16e system, mobile station (MS) is usually powered by battery. To save the limited power, IEEE 802.16e standard specifies sleep mode operation for power management.There are two significant performance factors in sleep mode operation, one is energy consumption, and the other is response delay. When MS wakes up by outgoing data frame from itself, only energy consumption is considered because of on response delay. And when MS wakes up by incoming data frame from base station (BS), both two factors should be considered. To get a full understanding of performance factors, a linear increase algorithm is proposed for an analytical mode. Then this paper shows the performance evaluation of power management.
