Intercomparison of UAV, Aircraft and Satellite Remote Sensing Platforms for Precision Viticulture
Alessandro Matese,Piero Toscano,Salvatore Filippo Di Gennaro,Lorenzo Genesio,Francesco Primo Vaccari,Jacopo Primicerio,Claudio Belli,Alessandro Zaldei,Roberto Bianconi,Beniamino Gioli +9 more
TL;DR: This work compares NDVI surveys performed with UAV, aircraft and satellite, to assess the capability of each platform to represent the intra-vineyard vegetation spatial variability and results indicate that the different platforms provide comparable results in vineyards characterized by coarse vegetation gradients and large vegetation clusters.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biochar as a strategy to sequester carbon and increase yield in durum wheat
Francesco Primo Vaccari,Silvia Baronti,Emanuele Lugato,Lorenzo Genesio,Simona Castaldi,Flavio Fornasier,Franco Miglietta +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a large volume application of Biochar (30 and 60 t −1 ) on durum wheat in the Mediterranean climate condition, showing the viability of BC application for carbon sequestration on this crop.
Journal ArticleDOI
A flexible unmanned aerial vehicle for precision agriculture
Jacopo Primicerio,Salvatore Filippo Di Gennaro,Edoardo Fiorillo,Lorenzo Genesio,Emanuele Lugato,Alessandro Matese,Francesco Primo Vaccari +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, an unmanned aerial vehicle (VIPtero) was assembled and tested with the aim of developing a flexible and powerful tool for site-specific vineyard management, which comprised a six-rotor aerial platform capable of flying autonomously to a predetermined point in space, and of a pitch and roll compensated multi-spectral camera for vegetation canopy reflectance recording.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of biochar application on plant water relations in Vitis vinifera (L.)
Silvia Baronti,Francesco Primo Vaccari,Franco Miglietta,Costanza Calzolari,Emanuele Lugato,Simone Orlandini,R. Pini,C. Zulian,Lorenzo Genesio +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the effect of two rates of biochar application (22 and 44 ton-a-ha−1) on plant water relations of Vitis vinifera in a field experiment in central Italy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biochar stimulates plant growth but not fruit yield of processing tomato in a fertile soil
Francesco Primo Vaccari,Anita Maienza,Franco Miglietta,Silvia Baronti,S. Di Lonardo,Laura Giagnoni,A. Lagomarsino,Alessandro Pozzi,E. Pusceddu,R. Ranieri,G. Valboa,Lorenzo Genesio +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a field experiment on a processing tomato crop aiming to enhance the knowledge on the real applicability of biochar at farm scale in a high fertility alkaline soil was conducted.
