Journal ArticleDOI
Incidence of metabolic syndrome among night-shift healthcare workers
Antonio Pietroiusti,Anna Neri,G Somma,Luca Coppeta,Ivo Iavicoli,Antonio Bergamaschi,Andrea Magrini +6 more
TL;DR: The risk of developing MS is strongly associated with night-shift work in nurses, and in case of persistence or progression, a change in work schedule should be considered.
Journal ArticleDOI
Shift work increases the frequency of duodenal ulcer in H pylori infected workers.
Antonio Pietroiusti,A Forlini,Andrea Magrini,Alberto Galante,Luca Coppeta,G Gemma,Elisa Romeo,Antonio Bergamaschi +7 more
TL;DR: Shift work increases the ulcerogenic potential of H pylori infection and should be considered a risk factor for duodenal ulcer in infected shift workers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Extended high-frequency audiometry and noise induced hearing loss in cement workers.
G Somma,Antonio Pietroiusti,Andrea Magrini,Luca Coppeta,Carla Ancona,Stefano Gardi,Marco Messina,Antonio Bergamaschi +7 more
TL;DR: Data indicate that EHFA is more sensitive than conventional audiometry in detecting noise induced hearing loss, however, hearing loss in the EHF range seems an age-dependent phenomenon with progression into the lower speech range frequencies with increasing age.
Journal Article
Shift work and autoimmune thyroid disorders.
Andrea Magrini,Antonio Pietroiusti,Luca Coppeta,A Babbucci,E Barnaba,C Papadia,U Iannaccone,Paolo Boscolo,Enrico Bergamaschi,A Bergamaschi +9 more
TL;DR: The data show a significant association between shift work and autoimmune hypothyroidism and this finding may have implications in the health surveillance programs.
Journal ArticleDOI
High body mass index and night shift work are associated with COVID-19 in health care workers.
Stefano Rizza,Luca Coppeta,Sandro Grelli,Gianluigi Ferrazza,Marcello Chiocchi,Gianluca Vanni,O. C. Bonomo,Alfonso Bellia,Massimo Andreoni,Andrea Magrini,Massimo Federici +10 more
TL;DR: CO VID-19 infection risk appears to be associated with obesity and night shift work, thus supporting the need for careful health surveillance among frontline HCWs exposed to COVID-19.
