A DASH 360° Immersive Video Streaming Control System
TL;DR: This letter proposes a DASH‐compliant video streaming control system for 360° immersive videos which is composed of two control algorithms which cooperate both to adapt the video bitrate to match the time‐varying end‐to‐end network bandwidth and to select the most appropriate view of the panoramic scene in response to the varying point of view ofThe user.

TCP Congestion Control over HSDPA: an Experimental Evaluation
Luca De Cicco,Saverio Mascolo +1 more
TL;DR: This paper focuses on the experimental evaluation of TCP over the HSDPA, an upgrade of UMTS that is getting worldwide deployment and finds that TCP Westwood+ provides the shortest round trip delays, which is an effect of its unique way of setting control windows after congestion episode based on bandwidth measurements.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Bitrate Reduction for Omnidirectional Video Streaming: Comparing Variable Quantization Parameter and Variable Resolution Approaches
TL;DR: In this paper, the trade-off between achievable bitrate reduction and visual quality measured using the VMAF visual quality metric is quantitatively compared between the two approaches to find the tradeoff.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
A Mismatch Controller for implementing high-speed rate-based transport protocols
Luca De Cicco,Saverio Mascolo +1 more
TL;DR: The Rate Mismatch Controller (RMC) is designed aiming at counteracting the disturbance on the effective sending time due to the CPU time-varying load, and experimental results using Linux OS highlight the effectiveness of the proposed controller.
