Journal ArticleDOI

Relative sea-level fall since the last interglacial stage: Are coasts uplifting worldwide?

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provide a compilation of 890 records of paleoshoreline sequences, with particular emphasis on the last interglacial stage (Marine Isotopic Stage [MIS] 5e, ~ 122 ka), and show that most coastal segments have risen relative to sea-level with a mean uplift rate higher than 0.2 mm/yr.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sediment transport induced by tidal bores. An estimation from suspended matter measurements in the Sée River (Mont-Saint-Michel Bay, northwestern France)

TL;DR: In this article, suspended sediment concentration (SSC) measurements were performed in the See River estuary (Mont-Saint-Michel Bay, northwestern France) during the tidal bore passage with direct and indirect (optical) methods.
Journal ArticleDOI

Numerical modelling of three-dimensional wave-current interactions in complex environment: Application to Alderney Race

TL;DR: In this article, wave-current interactions were investigated in the Alderney Race hydrodynamic by the use of numerical modeling and in-situ measurements, showing that wave enhancement of the bottom friction reduced the tidal current, refraction of waves by the current, generating changes in waves directions, and wave breaking ascribed to tidal currents, increasing the turbulent mixing.
Journal ArticleDOI

High-resolution bathymetry of the Alderney Race and its geological and sedimentological description (Raz Blanchard, northwest France)

TL;DR: In this article, a high-resolution 1:15,000 bathymetric map (main map) of Alderney Race located offshore of northwestern France, with the strongest currents in Europe, is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Alderney Race: general hydrodynamic and particular features.

TL;DR: The complexity of the Alderney Race area can be further understood and knowledge of the hydrodynamic process and forcing parameters can be refined, which can be applied to other coastal areas.
