Myopericarditis associated with acute Zika virus infection: a case report

TL;DR: A 46-year-old woman without previous comorbidities with a 1-day history of symptoms tested positive for ZIKV by real-time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (rRT-PCR) and was admitted two days after with clinical worsening, cardiac enzymes elevated and cardiac imaging findings, and the diagnosis of myopericarditis was made as mentioned in this paper .
Journal ArticleDOI

A prospective evaluation of hemodynamic indexes to predict weaning from mechanical ventilation in patients after cardiac surgery

TL;DR: Recognized parameters such as minute ventilation, negative inspiratory force, maximal inspiratory pressure ratio, and Tobin index do not predict very well the success of extubation in patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of Cold Saline Solution Infusion on Cooling Performance with Endovascular Therapeutic Hypothermia

TL;DR: It is concluded that when using more powerful endovascular cooling systems such as Proteus, concomitant infusion of cold saline does not significantly improve the cooling rate, but cold saline may still play an important role in less powerful systems and thus should continue to be one of the steps of the endov vascular TH protocol.
Book ChapterDOI

Perioperative cardiac risk stratification

TL;DR: Accurate estimation of a patient’s risk for postoperative cardiac events (MI, unstable angina, ventricular tachycardia, pulmonary edema, and death) after surgery can guide allocation of clinical resources, use of preventive therapies, and priorities for future research.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thrombolysis treatment for submassive pulmonary thromboembolism in patients with cancer: a safe therapeutic tool

TL;DR: Thrombolytic therapy in patients with a solid metastatic tumor is assessed, thereby assessing its potential therapeutic benefit in cancer patients with venous thromboembolism.
