Journal ArticleDOI

Protein and mRNA expression of autophagy gene Beclin 1 in human brain tumours.

TL;DR: In most high-grade astrocytic, ependymal neoplasms and atypical meningiomas the authors found a decrease of cytoplasmic protein expression that was, instead, high in the majority of low-grade tumours and in medulloblastomas, which further support its involvement also in brain tumours.
Journal ArticleDOI

microRNA-17 regulates the expression of ATG7 and modulates the autophagy process, improving the sensitivity to temozolomide and low-dose ionizing radiation treatments in human glioblastoma cells

TL;DR: The study of the role of miR-17 in regulating ATG7 expression and autophagy reveals a novel function for this miRNA sequence in a critical cellular event with significant impacts in cancer development, progression and treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI

The prognostic role of Beclin 1 protein expression in high-grade gliomas.

TL;DR: High Grade Gliomas have a poor outcome, however, prognostic sub-groups of patients may be individuated by some clinico-biological parameters, and BPCE score might be added to pathological evaluation of HGG for prognostic purposes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Adjuvant Epirubicin With or Without Ifosfamide for Adult Soft-Tissue Sarcoma

TL;DR: The results of the study suggest a possible advantage of epirubicin-based adjuvant chemotherapy in patients with soft-tissue sarcoma at high risk of relapse.
