Journal ArticleDOI
Small-Scale Structure Deduced from X- and γ-ray Timing Measurements
TL;DR: In this article, the authors review the evidence for these effects revealed with data from the Rossi Explorer in the last five years and discuss the exciting prospects for making the first quantitative tests of strong-gravity general relativistic predictions with a large-area X-ray timing mission.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Gravitational lensing and the Hubble Deep Field
TL;DR: In this paper, the expected number of multiply-imaged galaxies in the Hubble Deep Field (HDF), using photometric redshift information for galaxies with mI <27 that were detected in all four HDF passbands, was calculated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prompt Mergers of Neutron Stars with Black Holes
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that for comparable masses, angular momentum loss to gravitational radiation starts a plunge orbit well outside the innermost stable circular orbit, causing direct merging rather than extended mass transfer.

A Lower Limit on Omega-Lambda Using the Gravitational Lensing Rate in the Hubble Deep Field
Journal ArticleDOI
Alignment of supermassive black hole binary orbits and spins
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that unless the binary mass ratio is far from unity, the individual black hole spins of the individual holes align with the binary orbital axis in a time few-100 times shorter than the binary orbit axis aligns with the angular momentum direction of the incoming circumbinary gas.
