Automated positioning dual-axis solar tracking system with precision elevation and azimuth angle control

The smart homes are now becoming the requirement of the modern world. The days are now becoming thing of past when Smart Homes were only limited to sci-fi movies, it has gained much achievements and popularity over the last few decades. Home automation has given an entirely new meaning to living as compared to past days. Earlier all our home appliances such as television, AC, lights, fans etc. were operated by a specific remote controller for each appliance. There comes a problem too as handling all those remotes is hectic sometimes especially for the older and the disabled one. In this paper, an overview of a solution to this problem is discussed that all such devices can also be operated by only a single remote controller rather than one remote controller per device. This universal controller can be easily implemented in a cost-effective way by just using any existing smartphone and an Arduino microcontroller via Bluetooth transmission. Thus, smartphone-based controlling devices eliminate the need for carrying many different remote controllers. In addition, controlling devices by speech avoids looking for various buttons/options while operating the devices. The study aims at developing a signal based smart home network for controlling the electronic appliances by the voice recognition system.

The sun emits light which is solar radiation energy. This solar radiation energy can be utilized for humans, including by changing the energy of solar radiation into electrical energy. Radiation energy is changed with the help of solar or photovoltaic panels. To increase the efficiency of electricity production in solar panels, by adding Dual Axis Tracking controls. The Dual Axis Tracking Photovoltaic system is expected that solar panels will always face the sun. Because of the deviation of the direction of the solar panel to the direction of the sun will reduce the performance of generating electricity. In this study comparing 4 dual-axis tracking design methods, namely without a controller, with PID-PSO controllers that have been studied, with PDI-FA controller, and with ANFIS-FA controller. The simulation results show that ANFIS-FA is the best controller of the four methods used. This research will be a reference to compare with other methods to obtain the best method in this study.

Efficiency enhancement in a PV operated solar pump by effective design of VFD and tracking system

This paper presents the performance analysis of dualaxis solar tracking system using Arduino. The ultimate objective of this project is to investigate whether static solar panel is better than solar tracker, or the opposite. This project is divided into two stages namely, hardware and software development. In hardware development, five light dependent resistors (LDR) were utilized to capture the maximum light source from the sun. Two servo motors also were employed to move the solar panel to maximum light source location sensed by the LDRs. As for the software part, the code was constructed by using C programming language and was targeted to the Arduino UNO controller. The performance of the solar tracker was analyzed and compared with the static solar panel and the result showed that the solar tracker is better than the static solar panel in terms of voltage, current and power. Therefore, the solar tracker is proven more effective for capturing the maximum sunlight source for solar harvesting applications.
